I had a weird dream

So that my teeth fell out

"For Freud, teeth falling out in dreams point to anxiety about sexual repression and the desire to be nurtured. This disturbing symbol also tends to show up in dreams during important moments of transition in the dreamer’s life.

Have you ever had this kind of dreams ?..... Or anything else which was disturbing at any rate

I recently had a dream that I was being hunted to become a prized piece in a museum of human suffering. There, people I knew had been skinned, and pinned with barbed wire in various agonising positions. Mouths and eyes agape. All kept alive, constantly bleeding, through a constant blood transfusion.

What does it mean?

Dreams where your teeth fall out are a common dream. They supposedly indicate that you feel anxious or worried about something.

Are you in to dream analysis, Bex? I've never even heard of such a dream; though, I wouldn't pay much attention to Freud.

He's made his contribution, sure, but he's still a quack. Penis envy? Heh.

Edit:- that Freud part was to Pointer, not Bex.

Not really, I just know that a lot of people have had recurring dreams about their teeth falling out or falling and they've come to mean certain things to people.

Would not go as far as calling them bulls***, even though I'm speaking purely out of respect. Really really polarized and influenced by his time's beliefs and thoughts, on the other hand? Then yes. Things are very black or white for Freud but it can't be denied that he changed humanity as a whole.

When I dreamed about my teeth falling out the attacks in Paris happened and when my sister dreamed about her teeth falling out we had World War III at home, so I believe teeth falling out means something bad is gonna happen, but that can be considered as superstition. 😅

the contributions he made are making the influence of the unconscious mind and past experiences on human behaviour are good, sure, but mostly everything else is just considered historical literature in the academic world and most of it isnt scientifically supported.

Yeah science has moved forward and left his ideas behind. Which is a good thing! It's progress. But in a way that doesn't even matter because freud’s legacy has transcended science, with his ideas permeating deep into Western culture. Rarely does a day go by where we don’t find ourselves uttering a term drawn from his work: Mommy and daddy issues. Arrested development. Death wishes. Freudian slips. Phallic symbols. Anal retentiveness. Defense mechanisms. Cathartic release.
I'm glad he existed.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Teeth falling out, or dreams centring around some sort of damage to my teeth, is probably the only recurring dream I have, but that makes sense since I get very anxious and worried about the health of my teeth, how they look, that I'll lose them too early etc. I don't think dreams have meanings that can be generalised e.g. an elephant means this, a train means this (what if people haven't seen an elephant? does that mean they can't dream about the concept linked with elephants?), they're just a collection of thoughts and feelings that have happened to that person during the day/past few days. They certainly can't predict the future.

Very rarely do I have a dream where my teeth fall out. It has happened I can recall, but a more common dream for me is either crashing with a car or an elevator falling while I was in it.
