Pretty sure Batman alone draws a lot of money and the idea of Batman vs Superman is dope too. |

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I get why they are concerned though. Two good guys fighting each other? Not your typical superhero movie? It's not a safe bet. I'm sure it'll perform well at the box office, but, how it pans out with critics is up in the air due to its unconventional nature. |

I'll admit I'm not completely sure what's going on in terms of worry. I mean I doubt Captain America or Batman V. Superman is gonna do badly, granted I'm worried about BVS giving Superman the short end of the stick, to where I kind of want to see Captain America Civil War instead but still, I can't imagine that's their worry. Especially when Marvel has that exact same thing going on. |

I'm just worried that casuals will say that Marvel copied DC(because Civil war comes later).

Eh, I think they're right to worry really. A lot of people say it's s*** already just because they like the MCU(as if you can't like both...) And there's also the response to Man of Steel, people don't seem to "get" the universe. "Superman doesn't kill people! What a stupid movie OMG" Because he could easily have stopped Zod who was becoming more powerful and used to his abilities by the minute, equalling Clark who'd had most of them his whole freaking life. That makes sense. Just kick him in the balls, easy win right... Anyway yeah I feel like BVS won't do as well as Civil War but it will definitely be more well received than Man of Steel, if not just because it's f***ing Batman bro. Hopefully that doesn't discourage them, this is only the DC universes second movie it's not got much of a foothold yet. |

They are probably more concerned that they won't be able to sell as many toys or make a tv series out of it. Of course they'd never admit that. But Young Justice was cancelled for that exact reason. The girl viewers were buying "the wrong toys."

@Steve Well it's DC's 3rd movie. People forget that the DC movie universe was rebooted. Green Lantern was the first and it was supposed to introduce Flash but.....y'all know the rest. |

It'll be pretty annoying if they have to depend on Batman's popularity to attract the audience. Why can't people just go watch it simply because it's an important event in comic books being adapted? The match-up between the two first mainstream superheroes. I wish this movie has some fun with itself, that's what Marvel does and has been doing for a long time. DC has always taken itself too seriously, it never understood what it ment to do something about superheroes, without making it too silly, or too childish. Marvel does it right, but I hope they do that here. This "deep story" sounds interesting however, and I hope the public appreciates it for what it is. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

I'm sure it will have a "deep story" the way Man of Steel had a deep story about Jesus learning to use his powers to cause a cataclysm that killed 10 billion people and destroyed the world during a high budget IHOP commercial.

To be perfectly honest, Marvel/Disney themselves have their variant this year of this exact premise with "Captain America Civil War". It brings in the same premise of good guys fighting one another. Both movies will do phenomenally at the box office, and we're in dire need of a superhero themed movie that breaks the mold. Nearly every superhero film is the same mindnumbing good guy vs bad guy storyline, where the good guy wins and gets the girl. As Amazing as Deadpool was (for a Deadpool movie), this film fell into that same generic plot trap as well. We need something different for once. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Feb 26 2016, 12:53 AM.

The last time the mold was broken was the Amazing Spider-Man 2, where the girl ends up dying. People didn't like that one though |

To be fair I'll be flabbergasted if anyone really thinks that Gwen Stacey was done badly. I think it's more about the villains than anything. |

I'm pretty sure they just don't care about that movie, I don't think it's even technically part of the universe is it? Same as how the Nolan Batman trilogy isn't despite being DC. They wanted it to be but at this point I think they'd rather people forget about that piece of s***. And yeah despite BvS and Civil War having similar themes I can't wait to see the heroes have differences. I feel like BvS might do it a bit better because it involves the public more, how they fear Superman. I think it's great having the question "What happens when 'heroes' don't have our interests in mind?" raised. Off the point but we need a movie where a revered hero does turn bad for whatever reason, that'd be f***ing cool. It's always just someone they know becoming a villain or a hero being mind controlled in to doing bad stuff, not just because they got tired of saving pathetic weaklings or whatever. |

Doesn't Irredeemable basically have that story of the greatest hero going bad?![]() On one hand that's true, but on the other hand you're doing with Superman, who is pretty much the closest thing modern America has to a Jesus figure. even without that, this is the wrong hero to ask those questions with, if you're gonna do it with someone, Sentry would be a far better bet, or perhaps the Hulk considering the concept around him, Thor is also a better choice considering he's an Asgardian, he may have to choose at some point. Hell even Captain America and Iron Man are better candidates for that sort of story than Superman. Tony has already been responsible for some bad things going on while Captain America is a soldier from the 40s, he knows the cost of war presumably. No matter what angle you take, there is some hero somewhere and not far from public consciousness that could fit that role better than Superman. Like unless the city of Kandor ends up on Earth and human sized I don't really see that whole "what happens if the hero doesn't have our best interests in mind?" story coming out and working with Superman, especially when he already basically destroyed any chance Krypton had returning barring, once again, Braniac and Kandor. Also it's strange, the Nolan trilogy generally gets huge amount of praise aside from the finale, that I've seen anyway. Edited by Tinny, Feb 26 2016, 01:43 AM.
