I don't really care for VR just yet in it's baby stages. I feel like realistic motion controls should come before VR. What's the point in "virtual reality" when you're sitting there holding a controller or typing on a keyboard? It's just a screen in front of your eyes you're not doing anything different at all. I want a control system where I can hold my gun sideways like a 'gangsta' and talk s*** as I put a gun to the back of a campers head. And then get killed for wasting time doing unnecessary s***. Real life skill should to translate over to games, I'm pretty good with guns in real life but in games you're dependant on stick/mouse sensitivity and all that other crap, you have to learn how to do stuff in a game to be able to do it effectively and even then you're limited to what the game allows you to do. You would throw a grenade sideways or behind you? Nope, only forward in a set arc. Gore heavy games might be a little too much since you're actively cutting heads off and whatnot not just pressing buttons, there should be some limitations to it like strangling hookers in GTAVI would be a bit...dark. Especially when you consider how many 10 year olds and such play these games(even though they shouldn't) Perhaps the solution could be strict laws on that, could be doable in future when we will no doubt only have digital games. If you let your kid play GTAVI or an R rated game, blocked from using it for a time. But otherwise physical interaction in games would be amazing. Imagine something like the gloves in Minority Report but they press against your hand if you pick something up? A key for a locked door, the feeling of turning the handle, opening the window in the room and pretending you actually go outside now. Using a bow and arrow in a fantasy RPG, driving a fancy car you'll never own in Gran Turismo. Damn future people will probably have this and actual VR. |

Wait, wouldn't you first need to be able to look to the sides before getting the ability to throw a grenade behind you? Otherwise that's validly throwing blind. Also that in general sounds massively more complicated than the VR stuff were ding right now, not to mention they ARE trying to move towards those motion controls, with gloves and such. But overall I doubt there really is ever gonna be "good" motion controls until they can bring in just as good tactile feedback that lets you actually feel it.

Not really, you could hear someone's footsteps or see them on the minimap, whatever. But that would be great too, you'd need VR combined with this kind of movement for that though. I know we will get there eventually but why aren't we getting to use the improvements and give feedback? I thought the Wii controls were pretty great at the time, the technology just needed a lot of work. But that goes for pretty much everything starting out. Just basic hand movement stuff now would be nice. I think VR should have been held off for a few years, it's literally just a screen or two screens in front of your eyes. I don't think it's going to go down that well, people are probably going to get serious headaches from overuse. Using it for more than an hour is probably very straining on the eyes. |

Still feels like an idiotic idea no one would realistically do without killing themselves. You need to be able to look to the side first I think. What would be great? Use the improvements and give feedback? Again what do you man? There's tons of feedback on these things. ...They do have basic hand movement I think, or at least the capacity for it via certain vr sets. I think Markiplier uses one like that? ...how do you expect it to get there without testing and improvements and proof of money making potential? I'm not knocking it 'til I tried it, especially since everyone that's used it for the most part loves it. It's hardly just two screens if it's doing that so well. "Probably," so you haven't? I mean I guess that's true to an extent, but then the market will likely ensure the headset that avoids this problem wins. I don't really think judging diverging this new is a good idea without actually having some experience using it, especially with something they haven't seen since the old days of Nintendo. I mean let's be honest, the phone vr is never gonna count. Edited by Tinny, Feb 8 2016, 04:36 AM.

Well, that would come with VR but otherwise you could throw them behind you over walls, through windows etc etc Instead of having to take small amounts of extra time to completely spin around when you were already running. Being able to look to the sides would be great. To be able to buy the upgraded or new peripherals for it and have games designed around them. Why didn't they just make the Wii 2 and have more functional motion controls instead of virtually everyone dropping the technology to work on it in the background. By two screens I mean it's not really virtual reality. It's like having a "home cinema" by putting a box over your head and attaching your phone to a cut out in it to watch stuff, not the real thing. Some of them have sensors for your hands but they're not all that great. This is why I think they should go with gloves first, even if sensors work perfectly if you pick up an axe or whatever with them it'd be nowhere near as "real" because obviously you feel nothing from it. Better yet why don't we have rooms with anti-gravity technology with VR so that we can run around in games like Titanfall and jump really high using jetpacks. RIOT That would be cost effective...
