Megatron is one of the most iconic villains ever when it comes to cartoons, but he's been quite different depending on the show you watch, from G1 to the Unicron Trilogy or from Animated to Prime or the Bay movies, he's changed a bit since the old days, and some versions of him have made the character better in some ways, but others, have made him a complete failure as a villain in general. In this thread we'll talk about the best incarnation of the Decepticon leader, including only those seen in the cartoons and movies. You can also say which one you thought was the worst one, if you want to, and of course, you need to have your reasons for it. One thing: Beast Wars Megatron doesn't count. He may have been called Megatron but he wasn't a Megatron, let's be honest. He was just a Predacon that used that name to sound more intimidating. He's still one of the best villains in the franchise, but he won't be included here. Now, I'll start for who I think was the best Megatron. And for me, it's a no-brainer. Megatron from Transformers Animated was where this villain was at his best. ![]() He was a master manipulator, a skilled fighter who very few could rival in combat, an intelligent strategist and an awesome sonuvabitch. I know there's one member watching this show right now so I won't spoil anything. This Megatron is like a remade version of G1 Megatron, but smarter, less idiotic and way stronger. He's the only Megatron who has killed Starscream straight away after realizing how much of a traitorous garbage he was. He just takes out the trash like a boss. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

No Beast Wars Megs? Booooo! If I must pick another Megatron, I guess it would be G1 Megatron, but only because of the movie. Sure, he killed Optimus, but killing Ironhide was more memorable for me: Edited by Toji, Feb 7 2016, 03:05 AM.

^ Only time G1 Megatron was legitimately something special. Anywhere else during the series, he was pathetic. His transformation into Galvatron didn't really help much, in fact, it made him worse. |

I am not much of a transformers fan and the only series which I ever saw were the Armada and Energon series back in what 2001 or 2002? Anyways,I thought he was pretty cool in those series. But, honestly, I liked that one Decepticon the most.who was like once a former Autobot. I forgot his name though.

G1 Megatron is closer to being one of the worse ones given his incompetence. In the movie he suddenly becomes somewhat more competent but he doesn't really change much aside from being more ruthless, I guess. He's got the voice of a true villain, but that could be said for any villain Frank Welker has voiced, and most of his villains have really bad characterization, even Megatron who was nothing special until the comics made him good. Even Prime Megatron who's barely any different understood of G1's mistakes. He didn't solve them, though, proving his exact same incompetence as he is just G1 Megatron with a sharper design. |
