I don't get why this is becoming the popular norm, to be offended, upset or scared over every little thing? What's the future going to be like? Will we need licences to say "Hi" to someone? 'cause I mean if you're going to say "Hi" you might also be a rapist/murderer/terrorist, nobody just "has a conversation" And if not by engaging in conversation without consent you are harassing them, how could you. And if you ever disagree with someone you'll be exposed as an oppressor, misandrist, misogynist, some kind of ist. Going to dub this "Fear Culture" When will it end? "When people stop being horrible" seems to be the general idea...yes, I guess if we just teach people not to be mean or negative in any way all bad people will die off right? Nobody has ever told me not to just kill people after all, how am I to know? If people just knew about basic morals...they would have them. All human history of war etc etc is just because of poor education. |

Oh jesus. You have no idea how much I bite my silver tongue these days. I usually wouldn't care, but I guess being tactful is a good trait to exercise. |

This is hopefully one of those trends that will pass; eventually the people that aren't pussies will stand up and stop tolerating the people that cry over red f***ing coffee cups. It's almost embarrassing being an American these days. Every little tedious, insignificant, inoffensive thing offends someone. What happened to the days when people took things with a grain of salt because they knew it was a f***ing joke? With the way things are going, having a white car will be considered offensive in the future. Just an example. |

I just get off YouTube after going on a commenting spree seeing a bunch of sensitive enablers, then I see this and I can't freaking agree more. Man, people on YouTube really piss me off, they can be disgusting at times. |

I think you're blowing this out of proportion a bit no offense. Not that there isn't PC in the world but it's not as catastrophic as some make it out to be. |

It should be so minimal that you would have to go out of your way to see it though, do you think that's the case? |

People complained about red Starbucks cups for Christmas. I think that's enough to show how it's gotten to the point of ridiculousness. edit: I hate that it's affected the entertainment industry most of all. You watch old movies and people throw around "queer," "faggot," et al like it's nothing. Nowadays you have to really watch yourself if you use those kinds of words. I'm not convinced honestly, more and more people have issues like social anxiety and struggle with social interaction so it wouldn't surprise me if we had to wear badges or something in future to avoid that... Which is obviously a horrible solution, as someone with social anxiety I know I need to talk to people to ever be normal, not hide away and fear all people. But the general "solution" is to just enable this behaviour and I can't imagine what will change that. So long as people have the internet to form huge communities and b*** and moan about stuff I think this is always going to be an issue now.
Oh, man. YouTube is just hilarious. Go on any video to do with race for instance, any, make any comment and you get like 50 replies of just the most insane nonsense ever. Like about the whole Oscar thing if you say Will Smith isn't that great an actor they'll all be about how you're a massive racist, what's wrong with the world, white privilege and all that. You can't just...have an opinion, you are a bad person. It must be hilarious pointing stuff like that out and with that example be a black person. "Wow, guess who's white!?" "White scum" "You don't even belong in this country" "No wonder Trump has so many supporters with racists like you" "I'm black you f***ing idiots" I can only imagine how hilarious that is. |

@steve If that happened to me, all i would think to do is laugh it off. People have no clue what they're saying at that point, so why give them time of day. Wouldn't even block them, it would be entertaining. Maybe I would make a general reply to them all saying"thanks for the laugh guys, truly" but other than that, wouldn't bother.

I like to leave them to it in the hopes that they'll realize responding to potential hate with intense hate makes them just as bad a person as they perceive me to be. Commented on a police shooting ai think two years ago and I still get replies every now and then, lol. Basically the same s*** over and over. I think the worst thing about it all is that...there are so many stupid people out there with a voice that others are obligated to listen to them and they have to pander to their needs. Soon we'll have "safe spaces" on every street. Because words hurt. |

I don't think people are getting more sensitive, I just think that the internet has created a 'herd' mentality. All it takes is one person to say "that's offensive" and people seem to jump on it. Media outlets also make issues seem bigger. A news station could air a story about one instance, then tens of thousands of people are talking about it, so it seems like it's more common than it actually is. |
|
"Then you've got the chance to do better next time." "Next time?" "Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is." | |

I'm offended you made this topic and you will definitely hear my complains when I report you. I'm offended to be honest when companies change things in order to not be "offensive". Like DC. Not enough black superheroes? Lets change the most popular version of Flash, Wally West to black and give him the most overused black hero origin. |
