Is upalk bad over in the UK? here in NA its pretty bad. people come off as really obnoxious to me when they talk like that.
If anyone doesn't know what uptalk is, its when someones voice rises in pitch throughout their statement ending it in a questioning voice. way too many people on youtube (from NA) do that as well.

I think they do it in parts of London. New Zealand and Australia are well known for it as well.

i grew up in sw london for most of my life. not many places are wealthier -- kensington/chelsea/richmond, those sorts of areas -- so i was like a poor boy amongst the affluent. anyway, from memory it was more common amongst my sister's annoying middle-class friends who smoked weed to rebel against their family but still lived on daddy's money.

Not to my knowledge. There is only person i know that speaks like that, and its because he spent a year is Australia, and picked up the twang a bit.

Barring that it's not common at all.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Can't say I'm aware of this trait in the UK, although I've only visited other cities here and haven't stayed long enough to get familiar with the accents.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."
