Well, it used to be good years ago anyway I haven't used it since like Windows 7. The free version was decent anyway. Avast! is another good one not sure it's free anymore, think you might get a month trial I was subscribed to that and it was decent. The only bad thing about AVG is that it slows everything down immensely when it's scanning, in task manager 100% of your disk will be used constantly, most of the time anyway. And I only have 1TB of stuff for it to sift through other people might have way more. Although they may also have better processors than my i3

I use Avast free antivirus and the free scan of Malwarebytes together. So far they've worked just fine together. A few months back I noticed that my laptop had a bit of adware and used Hitman Pro on top of those, but for the most part the other two have been good enough. Just don't torrent a ton of crap and get on dozens of porn sites and you should be good. |

That sounds like very personal experience. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

Windows Defender is the best option you have factoring in price among other things. As far as commercial options go Kaspersky and Nod32 are usually the best. Kaspersky is made by a bunch of russians, where a good amount viruses originate from, so they know what they're doing. |

I've used Avast! and it was a massive drain on my CPU (pushing it to 100% most of the time. This was a PC with 1GB of RAM though, in 2010ish), although that was a long time ago. I know AVG were acquired by them some time ago, so I don't plan on touching that either. I use MalwareBytes and their ADWCleaner software as well, which is their adware removal tool. They're both pretty lightweight and non-invasive, which is what I personally prefer. I might download Bitdefender if I get any problems in the future or am planning on doing things that increase my likelihood of getting viruses, which isn't the plan. edit: I also have Windows Defender running most of the time, for the time being.
