Simple question, really. Just asking for curiosity. |

I like AVG. It's free, it does what I want it to do and it doesn't eat all my memory. |

I agree that AVG is pretty good. I haven't used Norton since the XP days. |

I use Norton and it does good job to my limited knowledge. It comes free with my provider so that is a plus |

AVG is a pretty good program considering it's free. Malwarebytes is supposed to be a good one too, although you can only use the scan for free. |

AVG and Malware Bytes do different things don't they? One scans for purely for viruses and the other goes after annoying yet still potentially harmful software that isn't technically a virus. Or am I wrong? |

AVG is good, BUT you have to set a lot of permissions for certain programs as AMV likes to block everything. it has a bug so that the avg firewall starts before some services of windows and thus sometimes you cant access the user profile leading to direct restart, but yeah thats all |

I actually don't know. I use both, so hopefully that covers everything. |

Yeah I've switched to AVG after Norton broke my computer forcing a complete reset... I got the paid version of AVG and I've encountered no problems what so ever. Kaspersky or something is pretty good too my mother uses/used that think it's free. But yeah AVG is pretty solid, though it does get annoying when your subscription is running out and it pops up every two seconds telling you that... It's funny how you get all these expensive anti virus subscriptions for the "ultimate protection" yet the free ones are completely satisfactory, unless you want to go on the Deep Web or something. |

This list here are very good. My favorite combo is F-Secure + Emsisoft Anti-Malware both have reliable, fast and easy to use suites. Plus Emsisoft has real time protection when you surf the net. Avast as a free program is very good. |

The only decent ones in the industry are Mcafee and the default Windows defender. They are pretty good in identifying the signatures of programs which is useful for manual flushing out of programs. |

McAfee is terrible at performance. I have it on my laptop and whenever it scans it eats up my cpu to the point where I can't use it for anything else. |

Is Kaspersky a good one? It's pretty new to me, and it doesn't seem like it can do anything against adware and other malware. |
