So... does this show have a limited budget or something? The animation seems really cheap and corner cutting. Perhaps if they cut down on all the filler crap then they'd have more money to spend on animating the fights? This was the second worst episode next to that notorious one on King Kai's planet. Bad animation, stop start "Fighting" and too much chatter. You wait all week for an episode and you get this disappointing garbage. Also a noticeable difference between close up shots and far shots. Like they are using two or three animators with vastly different skills. Sometimes this looked as bad as Fist of the North Star from 1984. That says everything. It's Dragon Ball, so Toei know that people are going to continue to watch it regardless of the animation quality. Ratings are down, but they're probably high enough for Toei to be able to cut corners and still end up making a decent profit. |

The animators are spread pretty thin with all the stuff that that's being worked on over at Toei. |

They shouldn't have started Super when they did, then. If they knew that adding yet another series would spread their animators even thinner, then they're completely to blame; either drop another series or don't announce Super until you're in a better position to animate it. Instead, their greed led them to capitalising on the popularity of DB following RoF. |

I was under the impression that Toei had the rights to DB/Z. Even then, they should've confirmed that they were going to make Super, but outright say at the beginning that they're going to wait until their workload isn't overwhelming, to ensure that fans got the best animation possible. |

That would've been considerate, but it's also not stupid to jump on the hype train before it loses steam. Then again, the hype train could always be reactivated by a gorgeous and energetic showing, which a later-made Super could've been. |

Alright finally watched the episode subbed. The art was f***ing god awful, but I don't think the animation was AS bad as people say. It was distractingly bad a couple of times (notably during the ki blast spam and when Freeza twirls Goku around), but for the most part I thought it was just average, like most of Super. Alright, good and bad points. +I like the way Goku and Freeza walk straight up to each other. It made the entire thing feel a lot more personal than it did in the film. +I found Jaco hilarious, especially the way he tried to run when he found out Vegeta was the prince of Saiyans. +"Princess Bulma" +Dende actually caring about Piccolo's death. Deaths stopped being a big deal a while ago so I like seeing characters react to them like they should. +Freeza having a reason to make death a big deal in the Dragon Ball world, despite it being basically meaningless due to the Dragon Balls. Most of the time it's just like "oh well I died lol, glad I can just be wished back", but Freeza has used it to fuel his revenge. +Freeza's plan to target other people in order to distract Goku is a great way to make the fight more than just "bla bla punch bla bla kick bla no thought put into anything" aka like it was in the movie. +Speaking of the fighting, I loved it. The only problem with it was that, like usual, it was broken up too much. Though even that wasn't that bad until the second half. +Goku having actual pure hate for Freeza. How long has it been since we've seen that side of Goku? I love it. +Vegeta saving Bulma. + Tien thinking Vegeta would switch sides, Krillin and Gohan stick up for him. I thought it was a nice scene to really show just how much the characters know about each other. Krillin and Gohan have spent so much time with Vegeta, while Tien really only knows Vegeta as a giant prick. +The sarcastic clapping. On top of being hilarious, it was a great way for Vegeta to psychologically get under Freeza's skin. It's fun to see people "win" in ways that aren't just pure fighting. +Freeza and Vegeta's banter. +I adore the yellow glow added to the blue aura. -Too many off model shots. -Goten and Trunks don't turn Super Saiyan despite wanting to be as fast as possible. Seems like a small oversight. -Fighting is broken up too many times. -Distractingly bad animation at times -Vegeta attacking Goku. This was a problem in the movie too. Like I get he's mad, but straight up attacking Goku just made him seem childish. -So...how does SSj2/SSj3 work now? Can Goku not use them? Super Saiyan Blue is just Super Saiyan with Godly-powers. +/- Vegeta saying what the audience is thinking in regards to too much talking, not enough fighting. Counting as a negative because he's being part of that very same problem here. +/- Super Saiyan Blue is explained a bit better than before. It was kind of confusing as to why SSjBlue replaced red haired Super Saiyan God, but now we know that "power of a God" doesn't mean the God ritual, it's an actual level of power one just needs to cross over. I'm counting it as a negative though because that whole concept is dumb as f***. The God ritual made it special, now it's just arbitrary. This has been the first episode of the RoF saga that I've liked, I think. Edited by Clearin, Dec 21 2015, 06:54 PM.

The animation was pretty terrible if you ask me. The action was just so god damn slow... EDIT: Also, Super Saiyan Blue being Super Saiyan God without the ritual is interesting. I guess you could say Super Saiyan Blue is True Super Saiyan God, then? You have to wonder how that works. How does one train himself to utilize divine Ki? I mean, that's apparently what Vegeta did, considering he didn't utilize the ritual at all. I kinda like that that is possible, but a more in-depth explanation as to how that is done would be nice. i guess that Super Saiyan Blue requires you to have your ki not leak whatsoever. And imo SSJ3 would probably bomb ki all over the place. The way i see it, Super Saiyan 1 is the only state that could possibly be controlled to perfection. |

That would make sense, but Goku has an aura as SSjBlue, while "not leaking any ki" in Whis' staff meant Goku and Vegeta had to lose their aura. |

But whis also said " they improved so much this fast " after they clashed together with their ki completely hidden within them. and then the aura sparked out. ugh this makes no sense |

Also in other news, I do hope Golden Freeza and Bluper Goku have a real fight so the universe doesn't explode. |
