When Elder Kaioshin first starts talking about how the universe is starting to break up against Goku and Beerus' punch, we're shown a still image of a sun just kind of exploding, or at least the very real implication that the shock wave is going to destroy it. Though it seems I was off on the stars being shown being atomized.

Unless we're supposed to say that's a planet. Which is strange because everything else was basically atomized when the shock wave hit.

Even still though, the implication is still there, the shock wave was running through the universe and after a few more hits, it would've left the universe void. No matter how you put that down, that's a whole lot of lives lost right there.

The clip doesn't actually show anything happening to the star though. The shockwaves pass it and it's just unaffected.
Er, that star is clearly exploding...
It sure doesn't look like it in motion. But that's likely just to save animation costs/time.

It wasn't what happened anyway. This was Elder Kaioshin saying what WOULD happen if they kept it up. The punch being shown here is the one that is supposed to destroy the universe.
The waves are running over still frames... Beyond that, that's clearly not a stable star.

That's not necessarily completely true. Those actually could have been still frames of the active destruction.

Regardless of what effect Goku vs Beerus had on the universe, Goku has no right complaining about Vegeta killing Ginyu. He's got a decent bodycount himself both as a kid and an adult and has put both the Earth and universe at risk just for s***s and giggles. Vegeta is 100% right about killing Ginyu, something Goku should understand given his experience with the guys body switching technique. For a show that everyone defends for its simplicity, its really ironic it can't even have the simplest form of character consistency.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why Goku would question Vegeta's decision. Didn't Goku realize in his first battle with Freeza that not everyone can be helped? Sure, Ginyu's not the worst person ever, but then I can't make an argument for that because Goku was going to let Freeza go at the end of RF, and he'll probably do it here.

"I am the bone of my sword."

I'm not sure what's worse at this point, the completely pointless use of Ginyu as a character having absolutely no purpose here other than to pad the time when all of this could be done with Tagoma alone. Or the fact that Gohan's character himself is being used as a blatant tool. Bad writing and bad characterization all around. Everything...as pretty much said already...feels so underwhelming.

What's the point of a rage boost if it's only used as an SOS? That's how low Gohan's fallen, his rage boosts are now an SOS at best

I actually like that he didn't get a rage boost. Firstly because I never found them more than a cheap, momentary way to make Gohan "cooler" without doing anything actually cool with him and his Mystic form rightfully got rid of them. Bringing them back would just push Gohan back even further than downgrading his power.

Damn, so long Captain Ginyu. I thought Gohan was somehow going to tap into his Ultimate form towards the end due to the white aura.

Do you guys think that Vegeta will be given the glory to kill Frieza in the anime rather than having his spotlight stolen from him by Goku? I haven't looked to see if the next chapter of the manga was released yet, but I think it will give me my answer.

I doubt it. I get the feeling they let Vegeta kill Ginyu as a way to "make up" for Goku killing Freeza. But you never really know. Super really has been pushing the fact Vegeta is smarter than Goku. Like it was Vegeta who figured out how Whis' "God dimension" worked.

The manga skipped over RoF completely.

Episode wasn't bad while watching it but thinking back... Yeah it's annoying

Krillin's character is ruined

Goku's still complaing to vegeta about killing people like ginyu?

Gohan is upset about not keeping up with training but you know that's not going anywhere

We got close to no action this episode

Ah, you're right. I took a quick look again and recall reading it. I've been gaming mindlessly too much lately. :p

Well damn, I hope to see Vegeta take the glory this time around by being the one to kill Frieza, but I don't expect it to happen.

I'm definitely excited to see how the fight will escalate this time around!

Crazy Awesome Legend

I think I counted 12 minutes before anything happened. Then some rambling about things we already knew. Vegeta kills Ginyu. Then more yapping. Then right at the end Freeza finally tranforms. Which I actually thought was pretty epic. So I might has well have jumped straight to 15 minutes in and I wouldn't have missed anything. That's some poor pacing.
