Favorite kind of fight?

There are many types of fights in DBZ (and anything in general to be honest) so out of curiosity what is your favorite kind of fights in the series.

Do you enjoy it more when the protagonist is beating the balls off of a villain, proving their superiority of a smug bastard whose held the high ground for too long?

Do you enjoy it when the villain is beating down the heroes, smiling at their poor efforts as our heroes must fight through impossible odds to win.

Do you enjoy relatively even matches, hero and villain locked in an epic showdown, each one going no hold barred on one another.

---
---

I think its pretty easy for me to say that its far more fun watching an even match between two close opponents, going all out and pushing each other to the limit. Something like SSJ Goku vs Freeza (with an edge to Goku) is great because it shows both opponents really going at it and there's a certain respect for each fighter as the push their respective opponent more and more.

Secondly would be when the villain has the complete edge. Although this can be done horribly (Looking at you Bleach) to force the heroes into a state of impossible odds helpsto up the stress. You may know that the hero will win, but how they do it is a mystery. You you want the hero to succeed and ultimately put the villain in his place.

And least favorite is when the hero has the complete edge. While its always nice to see a really smug villain finally getting the crap kicked out of him, it also loses its stress as unless the villain is somehow sympathetic, we're already cheering for the guy winning. Things like Super Vegetto vs Boo, while certainly entertaining to an extent, feels a little bit more like padding as we're not necessarily rooting for Boo to make a comeback.

What about you?

When the hero first get's beaten-up by the invincible villain, and then later (in the 2nd fight) gets their pay-back.

Majin Vegeta vs Goku is a great example of the kind of fight I love. Evenly matched, fast paced, lots of variety in terms of fighting style and some cool animation.

Goku vs Cell kinda fights enuf said

Evenly matched fights are helluva fun.

Where both Hero & Villain grin & grit their teeth at their monstrous capabilities.

Though I'd say Goku vs Frieza (pre-SSJ) was by far most dynamic battle in terms of OP'd Villain vs Vastly skilled Hero

Aerial kick, Underwater tricks & MF'kin Kaioken + KHH combo.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

I really hope you mean the anime battle and not that pathetic excuse for a battle in the manga

EDIT: I'm an idiot, you said animation so it's anime

I second that opinion...

Out of the three choices you offered I guess I would choose even matches. The more specific kinds I like are the ones where the protagonist is fighting at a disadvantage but manages to hang in there through strategy, intelligence, and creativity. Unfortunately, there's not many fights like that in DB because power dictates everything.

I love fights like Movie 8 where it's just an absolute murder of multiple protagonists.

Bojack Unbound is no different.

Even BOG can be grouped together

I haven't watched Move 9 unfortunately, although that has more a team feel to it since his goons did give Gohan some trouble.

BoG... lacks the same impact, Broly was a testosterone laden, hulking brute, psychopathic force of nature with a uniqueness to him that is hard to put my finger on. Beerus feels more the same sans the lack of complete one dimensional baddy.

Super 13 was better at the owning the protags thing, imo. He just did it so efficiently compared to Broly

I have this sudden thought of Gero creating an improved version of Super 13 who basically fights by punching everyone in the crotch and ending the fight in one blow.

Roshi would survive 13's crotch onslaughts

His balls are made of steel...18 comes to mind...
