da f***, gohan vs frezia and piccolo........ im not even talking about the retarded powerful levels, im talking about the feeling of this series, like seeing gohan getting killed and piccolo taking the shot was so un-dramatic and was CRINGE WORTHY, theses fights have no substance in them (crap talking, powering up for 5mins LOL, ect ) remeber when vegeta's arm got crushed by andriods 18 kick or when piccolo list his arm to cell, that was actualy dramatic and interesting, DBS is so corny and cringe worthy, it feels like dbz was made for 17 year olds and super was made for a 2nd grader (serious) |

While I disagree with this thread entirely. There was less hate 10-15 episodes ago. You can argue that the "haters" were a vocal minority. Now Super have kinda turn people off. You get what I'm saying? I still disagree with the thread though. |

it would be empty. most 'haters' (which are ALOT) are too tired of complaining. the only reason i watch is because "its there", although its not really enjoyable... to sum all of my complaints- if dbz was similar to super, i would never like super. hell, i dont think it would ever become such a strong franchise in the first place. |

Couldn't this have gone in the "Does anyone else dislike this show?" thread? At least that was a question/discussion. This is just a "my opinion of Super" thread. There's nothing to really discuss. |

that's exactly what I think about DBS too. I feel so stupid when I watch it, like I'm a five yeard old boy watching cartoons. nothing close to the awesome shonen I used to watch as a teenager and it was called Dragonball Z Edited by Dalmore, Dec 12 2015, 10:59 AM.

It's definitely much goofier and lighter in spirit than Z, agreed. Which is plausible considering Toriyama likes that kind of stuff. Better that definitely than GT, which tried so hard to be serious that everyone went OOC. |

Why is it so hard to believe that Super is made for kids? Ever think that when people age their ambitions change? He's a gag writer again. That's just what it is. |

Avatar and Wakfu are also for kids. They're light-years ahead of Super. All being for kids should mean is plots they can understand (that's pretty much all of Dragon Ball) and a lack of nudity or gore. Other factors are needed as well but the ones specific to kid shows are that I would think. And Toriyama isn't doubt just gags, for one it's TOEI and second they are trying to be serious plenty of times. And we get the failure of Gohan as a result. Super is for kids in a really bad way. Avatar is made for kids but is a great show anyway that runs of the gamaunt of all editions. I mean are we really comparing DBS to Gargoyles or Avatar or Wakfu? Because it fails there as well. Okay, well what about Spongebob or Looney Toons? Are they completely consistent? Kids aren't going to be paying attention to the consistency or cohesiveness, not nearly as much as us here. |

Dragon Ball even during the early days was not exactly spongebob fare, certainly not with Tao, they had jokes but there was asks conflict within them as well, it was not simply a vehicle to get from gag to gag. Loony tunes is. If Toriyama wanted to do gag humour so much he should have brought back Doctor Slump, but fat stacks and all that I guess. This is like taking the god farther series and turning it into transformers... Not quite as extreme bit DBZ up until the very last arc was able to be serious, And frankly the idea that because it's meant for a younger generation, or that it's meant to be funny means it can't reach and shouldn't reach for a consistency is insulting to both the series and the show. You want to compare it to little comedies? I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying also had it beat in constancy and these are about twelve 3 minute episodes in all. And frankly DBS is not loony tunes or trying to be loony tunes in any case. It's trying to be an action shonen that's lighthearted but can crank up the drama as well. I mean you tell me, what was funny about Piccolo dying? About Gohan sending an SOS? What's funny about Vegeta getting the rage boost? Or his ptsd from Beerus? How was it funny when Beerus was about to destroy Earth? What's the joke behind Freeza torturing Gohan? The problem isn't that it feels like it's for kids, it's that it feels like it's for dumb kids with no standards. |

Alright that's fair. But in the end, it's fantasy. Plus, has he not gone back to gag writing at least somewhat?
