None, really, but I haven't watched any perfect shows, or cartoons either, with the exception of Gargoyles and Samurai Jack, even though I can't compare western cartoons with anime because they're very different in many ways. But still, that doesn't make this one good, it has a huge amount of all the classic clichés and doesn't use them properly or even makes fun of them, it just rolls with most and doesn't try to be its own thing, just something else. And it's very underwhelming because the show doesn't realize there's a reason people don't do what One Punch Man does: It makes everything within the plot boring. However since this is in anime format everyone will praise the hell out of it. I praise all kinds of anime aswell for their action choreography and effort put into the animation even if I haven't watched many, but so far I've only been able to watch those that take themselves a bit too seriously (DBZ, pre-Cell saga) or that don't take themselves seriously at all (BoBoBo, even if I still love it to death). The only well-rounded one that has been able to appeal to me is Panty & Stocking. That doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed other anime I've watched, because I don't treat anime like stories, I treat them like experiences, where I feel what the characters are going through and I want them to get the good ending, even if sometimes they don't (Full Metal Alchemist, the original, not Brootherhood, is a good example) or they get a good ending that I don't like (Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duel Monsters, I thank lazerbem for telling me of that one). I have enjoyed all the anime that I've watched so far(minus DB Super because obvious) but One Punch Man is the exception because people seem to praise it and its characters despite not being THAT great. It's still really good, Season 2 might change my opinion. But so far, the dream battle between Saitama and the Subterraneans is the only one I've enjoyed. |

If it's boring why is it one of the most popular anime right now? It's good because even though it takes what should be boring concepts(a hero that always wins easily) it presents them in totally different and interesting ways. Saitama wants a challenge to make his life fulfilling, we want him to have a challenge 'cause HYPE. The side characters' interactions with villains and events are good too everything sets up the scene for Saitama in a fairly unique way. It's all building up to an epic fight, unlike Fairy Tail where the good guys tend to just win anyway through bulls*** powerups, which in a 300+ chapter series gets super dull. |

Is that seriously your best argument? Especially when I specified several times that it's boring to ME. Look at some of Spielberg's classics: Jaws and Jurassic Park, both based on awful novels and turned into awful franchises that went downhill really quickly, both mock everything known about sharks and dinosaurs, for the sake of unnecessary fantasy, mainly because the writers know nothing of these creatures, especially Benchley(who actually admitted it) and Crichton(who has studied dinosaurs but went WAY too far with his novel). Yet despite that, look, they're some of the most popular movies ever for no reason other than because they're monster movies when they shouldn't. So being popular makes One Punch Man good? It makes it succesful, yeah, so what? So was Batman, and many heroes that came before him and inspired him were superior in nearly every way. A parody like OPM is nothing unique. Enjoyable, but not great. Especially when the main hero is a plot device, and it's not making fun of plot devices because otherwise it would be taking it into a new and unique way, instead it's just rolling with it. How is that genius? I tried to be honest with my arguments but it seemed like you didn't pay attention to what I was saying. You're definetely not trying to defend this anime by saying "it's popular therefore it's 10/10". |

I think it's great! It's got both hilarious and serious moments, it can buildup into either just funny gags or actually badass moments... you never know with OPM. that's why I love it so much. |

My point is you don't like it, millions of people do. Your opinion isn't fact is it? You seem to be taking the show too seriously which is why you don't like it everyone else that does enjoys it for what it is and it's apparently got more popular than Breaking Bad at one point so there must be something appealing there. With the second season, I wonder if it'll ever live up to the first opening? Probably going to be like AoT where it was just fail in comparison. Unless they do a HxH and a YHH and just keep the same opening, that would be cool, the designs take a LOT of inspiration from Togashi's work after all. |

Right but then Big Bang attack would as strong as the Big Bang and special beam would be lightspeed I'm not sure if it was said he destroyed planets. I wouldn't be surprised if he can planet bust though |

Again, not a good argument. Just because it's more appealing that doesn't make it great or appealing for everyone, just more popular, which many people seem to confuse popularity with greatness, it appears these people have never tried to read a dictionary. This anime's WAY too overhyped for its own right. You're just hiding any type of discussion you could offer behind the lame argument of "popular = good". And yes, I don't like it. I've said that a zillion times already. |

Well if you want to get literal, it is a big bang thing is like a nuke isn't it? Not like the name suggests universe creating big bang When it comes to the sketchy translations and the clear power and style of the attack being called Planet Busting could be a thing to go by, especially since the series is simplistic like that. I read somewhere he was said to have destroyed a few, not read the comics or the manga though, maybe we learn a bit more about the dude from where the anime leaves off. |

After re-watching a few episodes I've decided to stop being such a dummy and appreciate the series for what it is. My inner fanboy can never get satisfied, I shouldn't criticize anime, they're too complicated for me.

Good. Now to resist watching the OVA's until the BluRay comes out... Obligatory one of these per popular Shounen:

Not sure. I'm also not sure if they are actual OVA's or just specials 'cause I'm pretty sure one of them is about something that happened in the manga, during the whole Boros thing. I see why they left it out but that would make it canon not an OVA so...not sure what they are exactly. Think they give background to some characters like Sonic. |
