Edit: Darker knock it off with the Goku v Superman s*** clear you're doing it on purpose
Ermmm... First of all you started the Goku VS Superman nonsense.

I just did this because I was bored and posted it anyways.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

What would Goku have done stop fighting?

You think Beerus cares what happens to the universe?

Pretty unfair because Goku never asked Beerus to come to earth

Edit: When did I start that argument?

Like I said, dodge that punch and hit him. He outmanoeuvred Beerus before and got him in a lock, so it's not like he couldn't do it again. Unless Goku's a terrible fighter, taking advantage of a situation like that should've been his go-to option, but his desire to create a new technique outweighs that.

Or, he could keep dodging the punches that took Beerus over 10 seconds to charge. Or he could hit Beerus while he was charging it. You're making it sound like he had no option but to punch Beerus' fist.

He could try dodging and retaliating, grapples and so on (unless you think he's a horrible fighter that MoS Superman would look at and say "you need to learn how to fight"). The big problem is that this isn't his last resort, Beerus didn't threaten the Earth if he didn't try top match his power or anything, it's the first thing he does, he was in no way forced or cornered into it. He did it, because he cared more about a technique than the safety of his "loved" ones.

Why does that matter?

Again, why does that matter, he didn't need to threaten the universe in order to fight Beerus. He can still dodge and redirect and grapple, or at least try to.

Beerus did threaten to destroy earth because Goku wasn't coming at him full power

Why didn't he destroy it after Goku stopped throwing those punches? He obviously meant full power in general, not just those punches. Also, do you think Beerus would continue trying to use those punches if Goku simply dodged them?

Oh? When? I'm liking at episode 12 and nothing like that happened.
In fact they seem to have agreed to the shockwave thing.

Oh I see now. Out of context quotes are needed to salvage Goku's character. This is why the movies are canon.

There's nothing to salvage,Goku loves life Beerus is the one who just doesn't give a f*** because he's a God.

Except they clearly were fine with fighting normally in episode 12, Beerus tried to sneak attack him even! They clearly did not need to do that, they just needed to go all out and putting 100%, not amping themselves and endangering Earth, Goku certainly was not limited, and if he was seemed unaware of it because that was the first thing he did.

And your logic after he endangers the universe to test out a technique is... What? It's clear he doesn't care about any of them.

Loves life so much that he matches Universe-busting punches with his precious Beerus-sama instead of acting like a sane, decent fighter. The fact that Beerus didn't destroy the Earth after they finished using those punches means that he was talking about 'full power' in general; Goku didn't have to match those punches in the slightest, yet he decided to.

It's clear he doesn't care about them but yet he thinks of earth and his friends and family and gets a boost in power....... lol

At this point it's not Goku but the writers who should be getting the hate

Writers portray characters as idiots at times doesn't mean the character is ruined forever

Remember earlier on in the fight when he heals his wound and gets a second wind because he's excited about Beerus being incredibly strong? Vegeta's shown us that a Saiyan is capable of overcoming their innate desire for battle, but it seems that Goku just doesn't want to change. That stubbornness is very off-putting, especially considering he's been embracing his Saiyan side more than anything since the Cell saga.

At this point, it's likely to avoid looking stupid considering the majority of his actions in Super, and it was clearly not what he was thinking about against the sphere of destruction, he just wanted to win.

To be fair I like Canon Goku (The two films Toriyama worked on) fine, it's this filler bulls*** "Goku" I hate. I'll be fine with universe busting when it isn't the most horrendously written s*** that turns Goku into a monster. Seriously Goku vs Superman was based on how heroic they both were, now you can replace him with doomsday and get the same effect.

I swear the first two arcs of Super must be DB'S Superman 64. Feels like these arcs are written specially for a Superman vs Goku fic where Goku gets tossed in the phantom zone, so they set out on making him as evil as possible without completely diverging from the established character. Like some Ron the Death Eater crap.
