Yeah it's pretty lousy, but that screenshot is sort of downplaying it. That one is actually showing off how Geralt's beard grows, which is pretty cool.

It looks more noticeable on animals:

Still not worth it; it can look a bit weird at times too.

Ok, that shows a pretty big difference, but I do not care about that. The fps is what makes these games enjoyable, not the damn hair! :p

FP, I just bought both of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191742971792
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331714232559

The CPU was literally posted not too long ago.

$301 for both of those. Now, I am faced with yet another challenge. the f***ing 970 FTW sold.... Is this a suitable replacement, or should I wait until BF and CB to see if I can score a better deal on a 970 FTW or a better card?

http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2977-RX

That GPU and the PSU is $284 before shipping and tax.

Nice deal!

There's barely any difference between the FTW and SC model. Either one is a great buy at that price. I bet you could OC the SC model to FTW speeds without even testing it if you wished to.

Before installing your new mobo and CPU, you should use keyfinder to find your Windows product key. You might need it.

Alright, what do you recommend: pull the trigger on the B-stock 970 SC now or wait until next weekend?

It's unlikely that you'll find a better deal on a 970 anywhere. I've seen new 970s go for $250, but that would be after a $20-$30 rebate, and I doubt we'll see anything below that anytime soon. Getting the SC model for $250 is still great bang for the buck, maybe among the best anywhere, short of near-miraculous deals.

That B-stock is full of awesome stuff.

Question, don't I lose my info when I switch to a new MB? IIRC, each motherboard has different serial number or something along those lines assigned to a hard drive.

Well, there are some considerations when swapping motherboard and CPU. What happens when you do it is kind of random.

It would be smart to collect your windows product key with the tool I posted earlier in case you have to reinstall, and it would also be a good idea to backup anything you don't want to lose onto another drive.

You can take steps to avoid having to reinstall windows (remove vendor specific chipset and sata drivers, though I'm a bit unclear on how to do this), sometimes you just get lucky and don't have to, but be prepared to do so. Generally a repair reinstall won't affect your personal files, but it's difficult to find solid information on this subject as the experience can be so variable.

I upgraded from one Intel Asrock motherboard to another, and I didn't have to do anything, I've seen people from an AMD to Intel platform and not have to do much, but you should take precautions.

I'll back my SSD up onto my HDD then just in case. What else do I need to keep in mind when doing the switch? I've already got the Windows key with that program you listed earlier.

Well, I noticed that my programs were uninstalled (the files were still there, but the exes would not run) after I reinstalled Windows onto my SSD, (and I did lose my MS word permanently since I didn't get the product key, now I just use google docs instead) so that is something that could happen. However, I didn't have anything besides word that I couldn't easily re-download.

Backing up your SSD onto your HDD is a very good move, though it might end up not being necessary.

If it's unnecessary, then I'll just have a separate back up just in case. Not a big deal either way. Now that I think about, don't I need new connector cables? I'm sure there are new cables with faster speeds on the market now. Any recommendations?

Also, is it possible to have my RAM in the MB alongside the ones you linked me? I don't remember if the RAM needs to all be the same or not.

Connector cables? To your storage drives?

You could try having all that RAM at once, (make sure the same RAM is in the same-colored slots) but I'm not sure exactly what would happen. It might work, it might not, the new ones' speeds could be affected, I'm not sure. The general rule is to only have the same model RAM from the same vendor in your system. 32GB isn't really necessary anyway unless you're doing heavy multi tasking. 16GB is barely necessary for games, but there are at least two (Arkham Knight, Battlefront) that make use of it and that list will probably grow.

Cables like new improved versions of ethernet, sata, and whatever else is inside the computer.

I'll just leave the higher 16GB RAM in then.

In that case, not really. There's SATA 3, (6.0Gb/s) but that's been around for a long time. There is SATA-E, but that only works with very expensive SSDs and there SSDs that slot in PCI-E slots, but those are really expensive too.

I guess if you were using a SATA 2 cable with your SSD, you might buy a SATA 3 cable for a few bucks, but that's about it.

Alright, I'll have to take a look inside when I swap the MB and the CPU. Do you recommend I wait until I have the GPU and PSU in hand to install everything?
