It could be your ram that's causing the problem. I had issues with my pc, and it was one of my ram sticks that was bad.

That's a nice list of games that I'm going to be working on! I will mess around with the overclocking when I get home later today. I've never done it before. Do you manually set what Hz you want it to run at or is it auto? What settings/specs do you recommend in order to squeeze more power out of the GPU, but not overwork it?
Yes, you can adjust both the core speed, which is analogous to CPU clock speed, and you can adjust memory speed, both can result in performance boosts.

With NVIDIA, you add an offset amount to your clock speed, as every card runs a bit differently thanks to GPU boost.

But you can't overclock forever, and the higher the overclock, the greater the chance of instability. An unstable overclock usually results in the graphics driver crashing; every time you adjust your clock speed, you have to test it in a benchmark or game. A full run of Unigine Heaven is usually a sufficient test, but it doesn't guarantee stability in every game.

Your model of 970 is already significantly overclocked from the factory. I wouldn't expect much more than a +100 overclock on the core clock and a +200 overclock on the memory, but that could be a pretty good boost.

Start by setting your power limit to whatever it's maximum is. You have plenty of wattage, and it won't harm the card, then start adjusting the clocks and testing Unigine at every step. I'd start with +50 on the core and +100 on the memory, as that much is almost a guarantee. After that, adjust them by a set amount (5 and 10 respectively would work well, but could take a while). It's generally suggested that you overclock only one of those memory or core at a time until you crash, write the previous stable number down, then do the same for the other one. Then set them both at the same time, test, and reduce both by your set amount until you're stable.

After that, save your max overclock as Profile 1 in MSI afterburner, then I would use the other profiles to save settings that are reduced by a set amount as the profile number increases, in case there are some games that are particularly unstable.

Could I just leave it the way it is and only overclock in the future when more stressful games come out? It's nice to know that there is some leeway in the GPU for future games!

Of course, that's why I recommended a highly clocked model.

Ok, question for you! Will a wired Xbox One controller work with the games on PC? If so, do you recommend anything other than the XO wired controller?

You will probably need an adapter. I highly recommend Microsoft controllers due to their ergonomic design and robustness.

You can: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc

According to the article, all you have to do is plug it in, and Windows update should download the drivers, and if not, there are instructions on how to do it manually.

I use an Xbox 360 controller myself, but I'm sure the Xbox One controller works as well or better.

I use a wireless Xbox 360 one. It's not great since the adapter requires too much power from the usb.

I got a MW3 limited edition Xbox 360 controller with a wireless receiver for $10. It works astoundingly. What a whole new way to experience games.

No, this does not mean that I'm conforming to the PC master race... :p

But wow....

I've put over 30 hours into it. Still haven't bothered to beat the main story.

I think it's safe to say that the computer is running well considering I dumped 17 hours into Fallout 4 this weekend.

Any blue screens since the first?
