http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34814203 Once again attacks in France. ISIS supporters again? Most likely probably right? |

We should be careful attributing every act to Isis. Even when they themselves claim it was them. Of course they will do that if it gets them media exposure. |

It's just as easy as any other city. Thing is that France has many North African immigrants. They tend to often turn into radical Islamists. @Pelador: Witnesses reported attackers mentioning Syria. Jihadi John was killed yesterday. Seems like a fair assumption. |

I have moved this thread to Deep Discussion, it is rolling news but a very serious discussion, not something everyone wants to read about but they should know about it. Hollande has said he knows who is behind the attack but didn't name any group, a good move, the media does keep the ISIS speculation going but their name should be banned from media discussion, just call them terrorists, give them no name, then they have less impact. It's been an awful year for France, I believe this is also one of the worst attacks in Europe for sometime? I can't remember the last major attack off hand. |

Probably the London bus bombing a few years ago. I don't get it. They kill a few dozen people and then what? What is their goal? All they do is make it harder for themselves because every attack means governments are more likely to be up their asses afterwards. |

They need better gun control in that place. Also agree with Rogue about not naming them. |

As bad as the Charlie Hebdo attack was, it isn't significant, it had a big political impact but not a big and coordinated attack, which this was, multiple sites and a lot more killings and unlike Charlie Hebdo, the people killed today were not specific targets, they were just everyday people. |

America/Canada are very water locked despite seeming like their own continent. It's very hard for immigrants to come unless legally. Legal immigration to America and Canada requires that you have education/means of support, which is a very powerful tool in weeding out such nutcases. |

I found the question kinda weird. It was almost as if you were asking: "Are they even able to protect themselves?" That's what it sounded to me... |

France has an incredibly secular government. It might be related to that. They can't serve Halal food in schools and Muslims aren't allowed to wear a certain type of head wear. I forget the specific name. So perhaps the strict enforcement of secularism is why France gets targeted more? I'm grasping at straws because there is no legitimate reason to do these things. This is not an immigrant issue. Terrorists are usually home grown. Young men indoctrinated because they feel alienated by society or the nation's culture. Edited by Pelador, Nov 14 2015, 12:00 AM.
