...People hate these movies? The only thing I see there is to hate is the fact that Andy Serkis didn't get any Oscars for his excellent work in these movies (but I guess if he didn't get one for Gollum, it's understandable those dumb critics wouldn't give him some here). Most people hate the 2001 one anyway, these prequels are about on par with the original in my opinion.
Only most of them I'd say, I liked Caesar's original family of humans.
You'd think Gary Oldman would've been one of those great characters, but 90% of what he does is scream at other humans. |

Yeah I'm sad that they just kinda disappeared, guess they just got the virus and died or whatever. It would have made more sense to have more characters sympathetic to the apes like the main guy, instead of just picking one guy out of each group to make the nice dude.
Ha, case in point I totally forgot he was even in the movie. Although to be fair Gary Oldman does that a lot since he slots in to roles really well. Y'know I just thought about it and I really like James Franco as an actor, he doesn't get enough attention. People seem to not like him for the many stoner or douchebag characters he plays but he's been great in every movie I've seen him in. It's Seth Rogen that is hit or miss imo, quite often miss since he's basically the same guy over and over. |

James Franco is definetely a very underrated actor, I agree with you there. Here I am hoping his character and his wife (a shame the dad can't come back, he was fun) return in a later movie. Even if they're already good to go by ending it with a trilogy of prequels, I'd rather have more, three movies in a row and they've all been good, three PREQUELS no less, that is unheard of, and I bet they can keep going strong. |

Yeah it'd be a good turning point for Caesar for his father to come back, he could kill him and that'd be him finally against humans(assuming that doesn't happen in the newest movie) I wonder if they'll touch the originals/later stuff or just leave it at the prequels. Guess they'll probably keep going if ratings hold up. My boss mentioned that he's downloaded Alien: Covenant and is going to watch it. It was so hard not to mention the massively stupid character decision towards the end... |

What character decision? Going to an alien planet? They always have to make that mistake. Otherwise there's no plot

The Spoiler: click to toggle Oh dear, it sounds like The Dark Tower is pretty crap. I think they tried to condense all eight books in to one film... If there was any time a movie needed to be a series it's clearly this. Hot damn I am good with trailers, everyone's been so excited for that and the trailer did nothing for me. Sounds like it's super boring and all the good stuff is in the trailers. |

Tbf in Alien: Covenant they also had no idea of the facehugger, they only knew of the neomorph, who was far from tough, it was actually a lot more fragile and not as strong as the original Xeno, not that big of a threat.

Yeah but still that s*** was stupid. It's like the opposite end of the scale from the "Villain explains their master plan which allows the heroes to foil it" cliché. We just watched The Mummy(2017) I...actually quite liked it, was expecting to hate it. Kinda sad that they're not including Dracula Untold in the universe now but as a first movie in the Dark Universe it's pretty good, just not very "dark" It has a kind of campy feel to it similar to the Brendan Fraser ones but not quite so campy. I was expecting some dark gritty thing and for it to fail horrendously at that but instead it was a fun movie with some slight horror elements. Nowhere near as strong a start as Iron Man was to the MCU but it was still good imo. I wonder if they can make the Wolf Man interesting... Phantom of the Opera is also going to be in the Dark Universe, wut. |

They didn't know he was evil up until the very end.
You're surprised? The original is part of the Universal Monsters line. |

Finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It was good. Nowhere near as fun as the first. The jokes were funnier though it just felt like more of the same which isn't bad but didn't feel like there was much new. I really wish Marvel would lay off the comedy...just a bit. It's fine to want some fun movies with lots of comedy but at the expense of taking away from the action or emotion of everything else...not worth it. Proved perfectly by Winter Soldier easily being the best and...well I can't think of a single joke that swooped in and ruined a moment. Or any jokes at all really because they took nothing away. Ego was kinda cool. If a bit silly. Why would he call himself that... |

GotG 2 was truly terrible, definetely my least favourite MCU movie so far, which is already saying a lot (Spider-Man: Homecoming might actually compete with it though). Adam Warlock's reveal in the postcredits scene was the only thing worth anything, and even then, that only means they're going to ruin Warlock as well (seriously is there a single MCU character that doesn't crack jokes?). The Stranger, his creator, called him 'Ego' because that was the most prominent part about his personality. But unfortunately they don't bother to explain that because the real Ego the Living Planet only shows up for one shot, and the Stranger, or any other cosmic entity for that matter, is nonexistent as far as we know in the MCU. Anyway, gonna go check out the first Annabelle to see what's so scary about it. Not like I'm expecting to get scared. |

I thought Guardians 2 was good aswell. I liked the portrayal of Ego by Kurt Russell and the three appearances by Sly Stallone. It also showed some great character development in Star-Lord with how everything turned out with Yondu. I also like that Dave Bautista plays Drax incredibly over the top. |

Yeah kinda dumb how there's no cosmic stuff. Who would call themselves Ego unironically... Gonna change my name to Lazy. Yeah I really liked Drax in this one just overall there was a bit too much humour, it's like they wanted every scene to be funny. Bautista is amazing at portraying that really flat, monotone sense of humour Drax has. It must be hard to keep that up. Ugh Annabelle. Every horror series Patrick Wilson is in seems to be awful I find. It's almost like the Jai Courtney curse. It's odd since he's a pretty decent actor, maybe it's partly due to him practically being the same character in Conjuring and Insidious. |
