I like how Split begins as a run-of-the-mill horror movie but slowly changes into a supervillain origin story. A mini-superhero universe was created without the need to adapt a single comic book property.

Eh, I didn't think it was that random. There's a fair amount of build-up regarding McAvoy's mysterious 24th personality, even if it turns out to be different from what the audience was supposed to expect. And I think that the harsh tonal shift in the third act not only works in the movie's favor but is one of the elements that makes it good on the first place.

Yeah I thought it was f***ing great, it built up great suspense unlike most movies these days. Going in to it I just thought he gradually got crazier and more dangerous, though I saw mention of something to do with his veins being weird but thought nothing of it. So brilliantly acted too. I wonder how Glass will play out? This is the most interested I've been in a superhero movie in ages and it won't even be a conventional one, there'll no doubt be some action but it'll probably not be quite so insane as most, looking forward to seeing just how different it is. Hope it inspires some more deep and character focused superhero movies. Saving the world from big blue skybeams is cool and all but something more tense and gripping would be nice. Speaking of superheroes, has anyone watched Cloak and Dagger yet? I was never amazingly interested but if someone makes it sound good I may give it a watch. |

It's the fact that, out of nowhere, his veins were overflowing with Bane's venom and somehow got superhuman strength and resilience. The movie's tone shifted drastically from being somewhat grounded to slightly fantastic when 'the beast' showed up. I just couldn't help but be amused at the sudden supervillain. |

I still don't see how it was sudden? It was mentioned throughout the movie about what if his personalities came together and made something stronger and then you slowly have to consider that maybe he doesn't just have a split personality, maybe he is actually many people...or animals as well. |

I don't think Cloak and Dagger has even aired in the UK yet. |

...How is it not sudden? It doesn't matter if it was hinted earlier in the film, like I said the movie takes itself semi-realistically with the whole multiple personalities deal. It never says that he'd somehow acquire super strength. It kind of jumped the shark there. |

My train of thought is the complete opposite. The third act is where the movie changed from a slightly above-average thriller to something actually worthwhile and memorable. |

I didn't really find it that good overall, even. I doubt I'll remember it 10 years from now. |

Jared Leto will be starring in his own Morbius the Vampire spin-off. lol I can see the Venom movie being moderately succesful but this Spider-Man-verse with no Spider-Man that Sony is creating is probably going to flop hard. |

Just watched Jeepers Creepers 3 at last after having downloaded it a long time ago. Pretty good movie, clearly made with quite a low budget but it doesn't show too much compared to most. Feels a lot like the other movies, in a good way. In fact it's almost remarkably good, considering it only earned like $3.6 million in the box office I can't see it's budget being more than $10 mil, probably way less. Not a mesmerizing movie by any means but I'm hopeful for a 4th which apparently is being made already. This one didn't make too much money though... I like how this movie does things a bit differently, right from the beginning it's just like yeah the Creeper is doing s***. No beating around the bush or having him only show up at night sneakily, he's almost always actively doing something. A nice change. Also his car is...alive? Wut. I enjoy how everyone gets involved right away too, there's no bulls*** with every character being stupidly sceptical for the whole movie they find proof fast and just get on with it, which is cool. For horror movie characters they're decently smart too...they even try to shoot out the Creeper's tires...and hit them! Police officers in this movie shoot things and hit them, is that not revolutionary? |

Movies that take place in the countryside or don't involve too much traveling tend to have relatively small budgets. This is the case with a good chunk of the Friday the 13th series, and I believe some of the entries in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series as well. Not sure about the Jeepers Creepers series, but I'm sure it's no different with them. I dunno about vehicle prices but that truck of his was probably the most expensive thing in the movie. |

Yeah that thing is nuts, it's like more dangerous than the Creeper. I was tempted to make a Creeper Truck vs Batmobile topic Gonna try watch more movies I've downloaded, got tons from 2017 that are like B movies but sound interesting. Was going to watch Condemned 2 but flicked through it and holy s*** it looks boring, reviews don't hold up either. |
