The Lord of the Dark

None of the MCU characters were intended to be comedic, and yet...

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

That has disaster written all over it. Especially after Winter Soldier displayed the perfect formula. That was my favorite Black Widow. Going comedy does the character no justice.

I can watch Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End any number of times without getting even remotely bored. The Cornetto Trilogy truly is one of the greatest collection of films of all time.

Yep, she does the occasional quip but Black Widow is quite clearly more of a serious character. Why make her part of the goof squad.

Imagine how lame Nick Fury would be if he was never serious about anything.
Just...God, so freaking dumb.

No idea why they think it's the comedy that attracts people.

I didn't really care for World's End but Shaun of the Dead is one of my favourite movies, amazing film.
Apparently it made barely any money even though it's a huge cult hit.

That's how cult classics tend to be, unfortunately.

I think Disney would be willing to trade "cult classic" for "$700 million" box office numbers. That's not going to happen if they try to make this more comedy and less spy thriller.

Oh certainly.

Disney's all about about the moneh nowadays. Even moreso than they used to be, I mean.

I buckled and picked up The Dark Tower blu ray today. I'm too much of a fan, and waited too long for this movie to just let it go. Frankly, it was better than I imagined it was going to be after the years of development hell the film was stuck it. The series is so weird and out there I thought it would never make it to the screen. At the end of the day, at least they got the casting right, and most of the New York stuff felt legit.

Well considering the fact that it's a sequel to one of King's stories and not an actual adaptation, it could've been a helluva lot worse.

I like that they did that and thought it was a rather clever move. It avoids disrupting the continuity we've already become familiar with. Plus some of the early development from when JJ Abrams, then Ron Howard, were involved did not have me excited. Specifically, Ron Howard had me concerned (I know, he was still a producer on this). The guy is a great director but I felt he was too soft for Dark Tower. Some artwork leaked out from the production and I didn't like the look at all. Too bright and colorful for this series.

Y'know, how damn cool would it be if they made it a stylish spy thriller?

Make it like a mix of the Peggy Carter stuff and Atomic Blonde, that'd really mix things up instead of just going with the same old formula.
I guarantee that in 10-20 years nobody will bother watching most of the MCU movies, just the main good ones. They're all too similar.

Just watched IT finally...

Damn good film. Didn't go over the top with gore and was pretty creepy at times, that f***ing painting thing. No. Get that the hell away.
The child actors in it were actually pretty great, what is it with all these good ones showing up lately?
The actress that played Beverly was great, she somehow makes me think of a young Ripley...not sure why exactly.
Solid performances from them all though.

Pennywise was great too of course.
