How to work out the difference when someone says "greater"?

I remember someone saying just because 'a' and 'b' resulted in the same outcome, it doesn't mean fight 'c' will be the same.

My question is, when someone says they have greater power than before, how much is greater? and how much is even?

Chapter 340 (DBZ 146), P13.4-5, P14.1
No.20: “I see…You seem to have achieved a truly considerable power-up. It’s a strange technique…This greatly surpasses our calculated figures…”
No.20: “However, this isn’t anything great enough to give us reason to fear. It’s still within a level which even No.19 is more than capable of defeating, and naturally that goes for myself as well…”

Boo: “Fu…fuhahahaha…! This is great! I’ve powered up even more than before! And what’s more, now there’s no time limit!”

Chapter 341 (DBZ 147), P6.2-4
Context: as Goku fights No.19
Tenshinhan: ”In-incredible…What strength…S-so that’s a Super Saiyan…He’s in a completely different dimension than we are…Too different…”
Piccolo: “…I wonder…”

Chapter 341 (DBZ 147), P6.6
No.20: “…Kuh…! Th-this power up greatly exceeds my estimated data…Th-this is bad. Like this, No.19 will run out of energy before he steals any power…”

Chapter: 387 (DBZ 193), P3.5.
Piccolo: “Absolutely incredible power! It’s even greater than Cell’s…! Un-unbelievable…!“

Chapter: 439 (DBZ 245), P12.3-4
Context: after Piccolo and Kaioshin's match
Goku: “That much, Piccolo?...”
Piccolo: “Yeah…Our dimensions…are too different…”
Kuririn: “Yo-you’re kidding, right? Stop joking around! I-I’ve got to fight him next”

Chapter: 458 (DBZ 264), P8.1-4
Context: as Goku and Vegeta are about to fight
Goku: “I don’t wanna take any damage from you and have it become Majin Boo’s energy…So I’m gonna end this quickly, at maximum power.”
Vegeta: “I’m looking forward to this…Show me the fruits of your training in the afterlife. *Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 2* Just as I’d expect. Your power is greater than Gohan’s was back then!”

that's just the thing, we don't know how much. it can be 0.1% greater, or 1000% stronger. but the fight itself should allow us give a decent estimation

Its during times like this when

Feat > statements

Unless a "what-if" fight unfolds b4 our eyes, the statements will just be an inconclusive plot-device

Well greater means that something is better by a good amount. Greatly surpasses for example should mean a lot stronger. How much exactly? Ehhh

MY FACE!

I've gotten side-eyed in the past for this, but here goes:

Piccolo vs Freeza before Freeza powered up: Clearin states that Piccolo is fighting Freeza evenly, and Vegeta notes that Piccolo was actually stronger than Freeza. So, Piccolo was notably stronger but not obviously.

Vegeta vs Freeza (Form 1): Vegeta obviously struggles to match Freeza and it shows; however Freeza can't outright overwhelm the former.

Vegeta (24000), Vegeta (30000): Clearin acknowledges Vegeta's increase in power as an enormous one; Vegeta s even able to match Zarbon.

Those are the three ticks on the ruler for me. 1.25 and greater is a large power difference, IMO. Afterwards, for simplicity, I cube 1.25 to get a number for the small difference in power and then square the result to the second power difference.

1.077 small but notable difference
1.160 effective difference
1.25 large difference
