I just watched the fight & here's my observation BOTH SSJ3 Gotenks & Super Buu were holding-back, but to varying degrees Gotenks in SSJ3, his strongest form used Buu Volley Ball Fist & Death/Super Missile. To no effect It irked Gotenks that it had no effect, while Piccolo said Gotenks might have weakened Super Buu "mentally" Last few moments b4 fusion wore-out, SSJ3 Gotenks pummeled Super Buu so-hard that he couldnt retaliate however hints Serious-mode SSJ3 Gotenks > Super Buu TILL, fusion wore-out & Buu regenerated as if nothing happened Super Buu is a MF'kin troller He sensed Gohan's presence (which might prove to be superior) & noticed Gotenks limited fusion time Not to say his "blast" post-Gotenk's VolleyBall fist which according to Piccolo "could wipe off Earth" was merely a sign to indicate his presense Had he felt Gotenks was a threat, Super Buu would've instantly vaporized Base Goten & Trunks da very next second they de-fused But Nope. Took a nap, waited till Gohan arrives. Checks if it was indeed Gohan's power he sensed earlier. Trolls with a fake Double KO blast, stalls AGAIN till the whole group reunites witb Mr.Satan & Dende. Like really. All these more than indicates Gohan's power/strength was the only one worth fighting. So did Super Buu held-back against SSJ3 Gotenks. Definetly As an overall thought, I think Full Power SSJ3 Gotenks = Suppresed Super Buu Thoughts?

Curious Out of topic, but still worth discussing If we go by ur logic, Kid Buu was dead even against SSJ3 Goku Yet there's Veggie's statement saying FPSSJ3 Goku should wipe Buu Ur call?

Mozilla Firefox Favourite Manga Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Trigun Maximum	Boo was pretty much losing the fight once Gohan went SSj3. Any time Boo landed a hit, Gotenks landed several, harder hitting ones until it got to the point where Boo couldn't keep up and was getting his face smacked around. If Boo was holding back, apparently he held back too much because he was definitely not on the winning end of this fight. The thing with Boo is that, I'm unsure how well the anime (dub or otherwise) handles it, but in the manga, Boo can't really be damaged by physical hits, stamina or otherwise unless he's fighting another Boo. For example in the anime, Vegetto constant abuse of Boohan caused his regeneration to fail, something which never happens in the manga. It's not that Gotekns isn't strong enough its just that damage done to Boo physially doesn't amount to much in the end. It's that same problem Goku has against Kid Boo, whose near limitless stamina kept him going. That same reason is also why Good Boo can literally be beaten to near death by Kid Boo cause apparently Boo against Boo is a lot different than Boo against anyone else. I think its clear Boo knows Gotenks is a threat but honestly, he already knew Gohan at this point was coming and that Gohan was stronger. Gotenks, even if he was stronger, was still in the relatively same ballpark but Gohan was a threat that Boo couldn't let stand. He knows he needs Gotenks alive or otherwise he's basically screwed.

Why not just kill the annoying the brat?

Gotenks only proved stronger whilst Buu already sensed Gohan I believe.
