Why did no one ever try Multiform with fusion?

So if Fusion is so OP, why doesn't someone like Goku, use multiform and fuse with himself? Goten and Trunks are both weaker than Goku by A LOT, half of his power would crush them and as Base Gotenks they can screw him over. But if Goku fused with himself, he would pretty much be much much stronger, and this time he doesn't need to give an excuse that he wants to fight alone, because he is fighting alone..
i think there are 2 reasons to why this never happened: 1. no one thought of it. 2. if the idea came up, it was too OP so they never used it.
your thoughts?

I'm sure in-universe there's something that would prevent that from happening, like fusion and multi-form being incompatible or something.

The rivalry boost would be Zero, so it'd be (power level + power level) * rivalry, which results in you losing all your power.
More honestly, he probably forgot, but maybe it just results in you coming out again since it's literally the same person? Maybe GT Trunks and Cell Trunks would end up with nothing if they tried fusion.

MY FACE!

Iirc Tenshinhan is the only fighter who canonically utilized "12 eyes"

Otherwise, Son Goten and Trunks were the prime candidates for fusion.

Even if you count the anime extension where Krillin and Piccolo use Multiform, that makes just two other users of the technique. And it's not like they would have made much difference by the time fusion is introduced in the Buu arc. By the time the Fusion Dance was introduced, the only available duo that was compatible enough for the dance was Goten and Trunks. Why bother teaching them how to divide themselves up when they can just fuse with each other and gain a higher power level that way? The only time I could see this strategy being usable is during the short time frame when Goku is still deciding who to fuse with before Vegeta shows up.

My Dear Melancholy,

Doesn't the multi form split your power level anyways? Wouldn't that just make you weaker or barely stronger?

I'd bet $5 that all it would do is be a fancy way of re-joining the two clones.
