Great, now we can have a movie with Silver Cell and Bronze Buu (funny thing is with RoF's plotline, I really wouldn't put it past AT or the writers to implement this in the future). I really hope this movie can redeem the stupid plotline of RoF. RoF made me so disgusted with the DB series that I came very close to giving up on DBZ forever. I didn't personally like BoG but I can see why theirs some who enjoyed the movie because of how it was different and unique from other DBZ content. With RoF on the other hand, I really have no idea how anyone can enjoy the plotline of that movie and how lazily it was written. My disdain towards RoF aside, i'm really hoping that the next DBZ movie can restore my interest (not to mention my hope) in the series which hasn't been there TBH with the new content. They just need to go the BoG route in a sense that they do something unique with the next movie and for the love of Cheeseus Crust, DON'T REHASH OLD VILLAINS!!!!! Sure, I understand how it's a bit annoying that made a former villain return, but I think it was good with Freeza because he had so much stuff untold (not that they really got into that in the movie) and he's the most iconic villain no matter how much you don't like him. I also understand how Beerus was dissatisfying with how he turned out to be, but technically we got a new villain in BoG. Technically. Freeza wasn't rehashed, he was the second coming. |

Some of the new stuff (if taken too seriously) also kind-of ruins a bit of the Freeza Saga. |

It's the overly hopeful and over-hyping that ruins the fandom from this side. |

I guess you can praise the movie for it's fighting scenes but other than that there's really nothing to like about the movie TBH. Plot sucks and the story is convoluted. I'm hoping for a BoG approach in terms of uniqueness even though I wasn't a big fan of the movie. There's a lot of different things you can do to have a unique plot. One plotline that I incorporated in my fanfic series was the idea that Freeza (I guess it can be a different villain now that RoF happened) had a last resort plan to create successors using his DNA as well as Goku's to kill Goku and co. in the event of his death. Another idea that I came up with from the top of my head stems from BoG in that the Z-Fighters travel to different universes to battle an enemy that looks to destroy or conquer all the universes. I'm only scratching the surface here of course so i'm only trying to show how the writers can make the next DBZ movie unique (granted the rumors Majin Nia talked about were true) and how they don't need to do something lazy like reviving an old villain. Rehashing old villains isn't a bad idea if you use it as a way to give an old villain development which can be used as a jumping board for the heroes to do the same. Freeza could've been that guy. The guy who sees his own bulls***, says he's gonna become better then proceeds to look at the good guys, sees their bulls*** and uses it to destroy them. Every villain goes through the same arc of villain to hero, having an arc where a villain becomes an even better one alone would've been a nice change of pace. It also would've been an official release where a Freeza resurrection is done right. Resurrection Farce's problem is that it pisses away all this potential for the most generic Dragon Ball thing ever. Even GT for all its averageness has lots of good ideas that piss all over the best of Zs stuff no contest. Freeza's return is a rehash of previous ones, except instead of being the footnote of a bigger story, it's the main focus but the message is always the same: Freeza is a joke and you should feel bad for thinking he's got anymore potential left in him for anything worthwhile. Hell, Freeza's a moron even on Namek but at least there's he's still a credible threat due to his overwhelming power and cruelty. Resurrection Farce couldn't even give him that back. |

Didn't Freiza have the same weakness as on Namek? His 100% can't be sustain for long because of stamina and lack of training? |

That's the thing, in the Namek Saga Freeza has (minus Beerus) been the top dog of the universe. His first forms power is enough to murder basically everyone, there's no reason for him to perfect his power. In Resurrection F, he's been beaten twice due to not training and planning for his enemy. There's no way, especially after hearing that Goku beat Buu, that he'd half-ass his third chance at revenge. That's just Toriyama making everyone stupid because that's the only way he can write stuff anymore. |

Yes. It was a ridiculous plot point. It should've been something new. |

I could actually get behind Frieza maybe pushing up to Cell Games MSSJ tier if he trained in conditions even more strenuous than the RoSaT and gravity chamber combined with his father for a year. Perfect Cell might even be possible if we were to give them both a transformation. However, for such a film to have any meaning or tension, it would have to remove not only Goku and Vegeta from the picture, but Gohan, Buu, Goten, and Trunks as well. It would be up to the humans and Piccolo to safeguard the planet for once. Perhaps instead of the Frieza force being at its weakest, we could take the alternate approach in saying that he made intensive training mandatory for all of his men. Those who survived would have been allowed to participate in the invasion. The power level of your typical grunt would have shot up to around 10,000-20,000, or roughly Zarbon/Dodoria/Cui tier. The elites like Shisami and Tagoma - who survives to fight in the invasion - would be redesigned to look like Ginyu as "mutants" in power instead. Their power would reach the low millions. Strong enough to give the humans some competition and meaningful screen time. The brunt of the fighting would be given to Piccolo and maybe #18 as they attempt to bring down Frieza and Cold. It could help flesh out his progress as a warrior and as a tactical leader for the group trying to protect his adopted homeworld in Goku's absence. I'm not sure what the end result would be. Perhaps Frieza and his father escape to live and fight another day? I wouldn't want his resurrection to be just padding between arcs. They could be given a large role somewhere down the line that ties into the multiverse and deity plotlines. This experience would also incentivise Piccolo to commit himself to training once again. - He came back for a few chapters as Mecha Freeza, he was never confirmed dead. - Non-canon. - Non-canon. - Non-canon. I only count him as "coming back" if AT has worked on it. |
