For mine I would go along with the Conservative party's idea of increasing minimum wage to £9 or whatever it is exactly. Now I'm not really sure how to fix tax credits. I know that the current system is not right but I don't know the answer to fixing it. Obviously it's not what the Conservatives were trying to do. That was really stupid. There needs to be a system where low incomes are supplemented by welfare. I know that much. The question is how to do it sensibly. I could probably figure it out with the right experts helping me. I want to introduce food stamps. I believe this would help people enough so that they didn't need to use food banks any more. This next one is quite radical and I haven't thought it through properly but it's an idea. The lowest earning families no longer pay for electric or water. These bills can be crippling to low income families and I think we could help them out a lot in this regard. However I would be concerned about energy companies raising prices as a consequence. I also don't know if I or anyone could ever have the political clout to make this happen. I will tax the rich and big businesses more and the middle and lower earners less. Small or new businesses get help and incentives to grow and expand. Sort of like start up bonuses. But owners can only get this with their first business so that they don't just keep taking the money and running off with it over and over. Minimum pension amounts. If you work all your life at say, a super market. Your pension is going to be worthless. There should be a minimum pension amount allocated to people that is more than what the lowest earners get for it now. It's far too low. |

A lot of that sounds good. My additions would be Budget Control/Education. Most people get plenty money to survive on which lets face it if your income is the lowest of the low that's all you are and all you should be getting. Yet people are out wasting it on alcohol and cigarettes then complaining they can't feed their kids properly when the money spent on ONE pack of cigs these days can feed a whole family. Costs like £5-7 for a decent sized chicken £2 for some veg, not a perfect meal by any means but good enough and certainly better than Burger King. Family planning should tie in to this too you should be greatly encouraged not to have like four kids when you can barely look after yourself, there should be a great chance of social services getting involved if you opt to have kids and refuse to try improve your circumstances by contributing in whatever way. I don't care how harsh that sounds, millions of people hold the country back these ways, giving nothing in return and they shouldn't get more money if they're not trying anything. Some people have an excuse obviously but not all unless severely mentally or physically disabled you can pick up litter at the very least. And by improving your contributions to society you get more money from welfare etc of course, volunteer work could go towards helping out local councils which are often pretty f***ing useless so that would help cover the issue of not everyone being able to get actual jobs. The more people help, the better everything would be and the more they could be helped in turn. |
