The only reason Vizsla lasted as long as he did against Maul is because Maul refrained from really using most of his Force abilities (and generally dislikes doing so, preferring purely physical victory). I wouldn't say Ventress is as skilled as Maul but she's generally open to using dirtier tactics and doing whatever it takes to win so she takes this.

Maul handicapped himself to fight Pre Vizsla. He didn't augment himself with the Force. iirc.
