Both prefer melee to atomic breath and both of their atomic breaths are kind of misty. 2014 Godzilla is scaled down to 53 meters tall and 45,000 tons. This is a tough fight to decide. 2014 is bigger than most monsters that 70's fought, but 70's was capable of lifting and slamming the 48,000 ton Hedorah. On the other hand, 2014 is more aggressive than Hedorah in physical combat and could use his size to better advantage himself. Showa definitely has more skill in combat however, as seen when he whooped Titanosaurus and the Gigan/Megalon tag team. 2014's breath seems stronger though, should he get around to using it. I want to lean towards 70's just for the skill advantage, but 2014 is larger and very melee capable. I think that if Showa can handle Titanosaurus though, then he can probably handle 2014(just barely). Showa's strength feats are better, as he regularly lifts and slams things that are bigger than he is, whilst 2014's best moment consisted of dealing with monsters smaller than him |

70s Godzilla. Size doesn't matter a lot here, it makes it worse for 2014 Godzilla for being so sluggish and slow, while 70s Godzilla was faster by a good margin. Plus I don't think 2014 Godzilla can survive this.![]() But seriously, how does 2014 Godzilla get past 70s Godzilla's durability? We all know 70s Godzilla will eventually pierce through 2014 Godzilla with just his claws since missiles and tanks can still hurt 2014 Godzilla. |

2014 can definitely wound 70's Godzilla, since 70's was not the king of durability. However, he will have trouble stopping him. 70's has some really good pain tolerance for the most part, as seen when his hand is skeletized and he keeps on fighting or having his throat torn open by Mechagodzilla and continuing to to be capable of moving. By comparison, 2014 takes pain extremely poorly, kind of like Megalon and Jet Jaguar. 2014 is more durable, I think, but he takes pain a lot worse. |

Giving it to 70s Zilla. Once you size 2014 Godzilla down, what exactly are his feats? 70's Godzilla practically has human-level intelligence and skills to match with a huge assortment of abilities and prowess, some which hardly make any sense to begin with. Flying, magnetism, etc. Seriously, 70's Godzilla would probably use his sudden ability to attract magnets to form a giant metal bat to beat 2014 Godzilla's face in. No I don't expect that but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. 2014 Godzilla essentially took on a Kamaracus and a baby Kamaracus while 70's Godzilla has trudged through several powerful opponents like Hedorah and Mechagodzilla, gotten the s*** beat out of him and still trudged through to the end. This would be like a really fat man trying to take on a slightly weaker but seasoned fighting veteran. One may be stronger physically but the other one is Godzilla Batman. As long as 70's Godzilla keeps his head in the game and doesn't do anything stupid like a flying backwards dropkick from the sky...(which may still work) he should be able to take this one. I think he just has too much skill, ability, intelligence and natural talent. |

I recall 70s Godzilla walking through missiles and tanks shooting at him as if their shots were nothing. 2014 Godzilla, on the other hand, had to run away from the shots. That's basically the same scenario only that the tanks that were shooting at 70s Godzilla were technologically advanced and upgraded, I believe. 2014 Godzilla's other durability feat consists on him getting knocked out for several hours by a small yet somehow very powerful explosion. |

Pain tolerance and durability are different. 2014 has some of the worst pain tolerance ever(screaming as if he's being disemboweled from attacks that for the most part don't make him bleed), but his durability is passable(most of said attacks not making him bleed). He can put up a fight based on his aggressiveness and his general size, but his terrible pain tolerance really kills him when taking on kaiju that are just as strong as he is. |

There is some serious G14 nerf here. First off strength Godzilla 70's has lifted monsters that weight Heisei weight, so twice his body weight is nothing to him, Legendary Godzilla caused a tsunami just by coming ashore. The amount of raw power a creature would need to have in order to do that to the environment with its presence alone is staggering. Next, Legendary Godzilla bulldozed through the Golden Gate Bridge like it wasn't even there. He did this after making the damn thing wobble by tugging one of the cables. Excluding the anchorages and approaches, the Golden Gate Bridge weighs 419,800-tons. Godzilla shook a 419,800-ton bridge (!), and then, proceeded to bulldoze through it. I'd say Legendary is a little bit stronger Speed No question showa is faster Intelligence Legendary is a highly intelligent animal, Showa is near human levels. Showa is smarter. Durability Showa was devastated several times in his serious but he is immune to most conventional weapons but it is implied that a Nuke would kill him several times in the series. Legendary tanked a nuke, and Godzilla was at ground zero of the asteroid impact that caused the Permian Extinction. Godzilla was unscathed by this. Advantage Legendary Godzilla. Pain tolerance I'm giving this to Showa but not because I think the Mutos were making Godzilla scream in pain but just from the simple fact that, Ghidoyh blasted Godzilla times and didn'tt hurt him too much, Godzilla fought Hedorah with two hands burned to the bone, and later both MechaGodzilla battles would have killed any other monster but Godzilla was able to force himself through it. Advantage showa Godzilla. Finally Atomic breath I doubt either breath from either Godzilla will be able to have a super effect on the other but if I had to give an advantage I'd give it to G14. Showa's breath isn't going to hurt G14 and while Legendary's breath will not be putting Showa Godzilla down it is going to do more to him than Showa's will do to Legendary. Verdict Legendary Godzilla should be able to pull this off. Showa Godzilla has the speed advantage and is smarter but he's not that much smarter, he can't hurt Legendary as quick as Legendary can hurt him but the deciding factor at the end of the day is this. Showa and Legendary both like to trade blows and Legendary is bigger and stronger. The fight would take hours to decide but at the end of the day Legendary has the brute force to over power his showa counter part. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the bridge supposed to be able to flex and shake in case of an earthquake and not be rigid? That makes it less impressive. In any case, I agree that the strength isn't too different(though I'd favor 70's slightly)
When was a nuke implied to be capable of killing 70's Godzilla? Also, Godzilla was not at ground zero of the explosion if you want to use the comics. Shinomura was killed by Castle Bravo, which is weaker than even the Tunguska event. Shinomura was right next to Godzilla, so this leads to a contradiction if Godzilla was indeed at ground zero
You forgot one category, and that is combat skill. That is what lets Showa take this as compared to Legendary. When Legendary fights, his first tactic is to bite them and push them down, at which point he would stomp them. He can use his tail too, but the windup on that thing is absurd and would be easy to dodge. Not to mention that Showa has shown a history of just grabbing tails and then whipping the unfortunate kaiju up and down by their tail(this was done to Hedorah and Megalon, both of whom are around scaled 2014 Godzilla) With Showa, he goes for a mixture of quick punches, grapples, and headbutts. This skill is what's going to let him take the win on 2014. For example, let's use Titanosaurus as our Legendary stand in. Titanosaurus is a strong, savage brawler, but he doesn't have much combat skills(he mimics Godzilla later on, but his first clash had little in the way of that). Let me do a play by play Godzilla punches Titano in the mouth Godzilla headbutts Titano's gut while the dinosaur is staggered Godzilla slugs Titano with his right while he's trying to catch his breath Godzilla punches with his left and headbutts Titano's chest Titano tries to mimic the headbutt move, but gets headlocked and punched in the face a couple of times Godzilla does a right-left combo to Titano's face Godzilla headbutts Titano in the chest Godzilla throws Titano to the ground Godzilla gets ready to slam Titano, but he gets shot by Mechagodzilla Now, Titano does eventually improve in his performance, but that's because he can mimic fighting styles rather well and switched to something very similar to Showa's. Legendary does not display this level of adaptation(he was suffering an hour of getting attacked and didn't change tactics) so he is going to do extremely badly against Showa's hand to hand skills. Legendary's arms aren't exactly used all that much either, which further disadvantages him. His arms have limited articulation by comparison, which keeps him from protecting his face or doing effective strikes if Showa is punching him in the mouth and headlocking him. Godzilla still shaking it is still impressive as the weight of the bridge plus that fact it would take an Earthquake to move it shows however strong he is. Axehead a kaiju that it took 3 nukes to kill had to smash through the bridge, LegendaryGoji ran right through without a running start. Also once again he started a Tsunami by bouncing off the sea floor.
It is said several times in the showa series that a Nuke could kill Godzilla but Japan A. How their anti nuclear weapon policy B. A Atom Bomb could kill more than Godzilla himself C. Even if it killed that Godzilla it ran the risk of waking another one up. Also it was said the Atomic bomb could kill Showa Godzilla while Legendary Godzilla tanked a Hydrogen Bomb. There where two Shinomura in the comic, Godzilla killed that one in the past with his Atomic breath and then was at ground zero. A second one showed up and fought Godzilla before castle Bravo.
Showa Godzilla can not inflict enough damage on Legendary Godzilla despite being a better fighter. The combat skill showa posses isn't enough to make a huge advantage against Legendary Godzilla who is more durable and just as strong. Showa Godzilla was impressive for the same reason FW was impressive he never challenged a monster just as strong as he was and when he did he almost lost. Hedorah almost beat him, MechaGodzilla 74 was almost beat him. Everyone else who fought was out classed.
Titano and MechaG 75 were both stated to be inferior to Godzilla in one on one fights. It was mandatory that they fight together to win that fight. G14 doesn't need help to win this.
G14 was fighting the Male and winning for an hour. When the Mutos start working together the 90 minute nuke timer was down to less than 30 mins and Ford had plenty time to get the bomb to the boat and sail it before it exploded. The Mutos were winning for 5 to 10 mins of the fight at most. Also G14 is 3 meters taller than G 70'sso he will be able to lift his arms against Showa. G14 couldn't reach over the top of his head but he can put hands up and fight. |

What does Axehead's strength have to do with anything? He was a Category 1 kaiju, that's pitifully weak. For reference, Onibaba was Category 2 and so weak that it was offscreened in seconds by a Jaeger with only one pilot. In regards to the tsunami, that has to do with water displacement and his size, it's not really strength. This more so has to do with Showa bending physics a lot than anything else.
Which was the movie where this was said? I'm curious about that. In any case, Showa didn't feed off of radiation like Legendary, so the nuke would be more fatal to him due to that.
I was under the impression it was the same one, but okay
Legendary's durability won't help him any if Showa just throws him into a building and lets it collapse on his head. This isn't really a hard tactic for Showa to do either. Also, Legendary was freaking out over missiles and battleships shooting at him, somehow I don't think he's just going to take Showa's boxing with a stiff upper lip In regards to Showa's enemies, they are considerably more impressive. Hedorah is bigger than scaled 2014, made of acid, and spewed toxic smoke. Keep in mind, Godzilla actually ripped out his eye, the problem was that doing so burned his hand off. Legendary lacks the luxury of an acid body to save him from getting his eye ripped out(if Showa decides he wants to be brutal with him). Mechagodzilla could spam powerful long ranged weapons like no tomorrow and fly, he is entirely incomparable. However, Showa still did lift him over his shoulders despite having suffered a horrible assault earlier hand, and MG weighs just a bit less than 2014 scaled. King Ghidorah got practically soloed by Godzilla in Godzilla vs Gigan, this is despite King Ghidorah having enough power behind his hits to send Godzilla flying. Same thing occurred with Titanosaurus. When 2014 hits a smaller opponent with his best attack, a tail wipe, he takes out a chunk of a building, but little else. When Titanosaurus punts Showa in the ribs hard enough to send him flying out of the city limits, Showa gets right back up and gets to punching the s*** out of Titano. The fact is that 2014 was getting stomped by a tag team of smaller kaiju. Smaller kaiju who were not really that durable or strong. When Showa fights the Gigan/Megalon tag team, he takes them down without any trouble.
Titano could kick Godzilla hard enough to send him flying and do stunts like this ![]() And a single one of MG 75's revolving missiles uprooted city blocks(along with the rest of his arsenal being the same). Legendary could never hope to mimic Titano's brute strength(even scaled) or MG's sheer destructive power. The point of this is that Showa beat down an animalistic, brute force fighter using combat skill. Guess what 2014 is? A brute force animalistic fighter. Even if 2014 is as strong as Titanosaurus, he's not going to beat Showa.
The fact that 2014 was incapable of defeating an opponent a quarter of his size after fighting him for an hour reflects very badly on him. Letting himself get beaten up for 5-10 minutes is still really bad. He's almost comically stingy with his atomic breath and apparently doesn't have another strategy other than "tackle, bite, stomp". A strategy very similar to Titanosaurus's, in fact.
He can shove him, I guess, but that won't help him if Showa just decides to head lock him and start punching him in the gills(he does tend to strike near the neck and head area after all). If a frontal assault doesn't work, then Showa does have the physical strength to just grab 2014's tail and begin slamming him as he did Megalon and Hedorah. Legendary is just barely heavier than Megalon and less heavy than Hedorah, so Showa can definitely do this if he wants to. If a building falling on his head knocks him out, then I'm sure Legendary won't be conscious after one or two "cracking the whip" moves Edited by lazerbem, Oct 30 2015, 07:51 PM.

Axehead is not a CAT 1. That is never stated in the film. By feats and Height he is at least a CAT 3 but the only time he was ever given an official CAT was a old version of the script where Trespasser was a CAT 5. Godzilla coming in at the speed he was at and him bouncing off the ocean floor had more to do with that. FW and GMK's were water displacement.
IN -KOTM -GRA -KKvsG -MvsG All these movies mention Godzilla being kilt by an A-bomb but the aftermath of the nuke was just as bad or worse than Godzilla. KOTM also says that Showa did feed off radiation, just not to the same degree as Heisei and up.
Nope, Godzilla killed that one with his Atomic breath. He had been hunting and how wounded it then finished it off.
The missiles were an annoyance that wasn't hurting him. When the Mutos hurt Godzilla he turned and roared and wanted to engage. He looked like he was calling out the Mutos the way he kept roaring and didn't even respond to the attacks. As for the building feat, the same thing knocked out Godzilla Heisei and Godzilla 2000 who are both superior to Showa Godzilla. 70's Godzilla is also not going to be able to do this as he tries to fight outside of cities and when he does he minimizes damage. Still no counter to the fact 70's Godzilla never beat an opponent on his level or stronger than him. -Lost to Hedorah -Lost to MechaGodzilla 74 -Lost to Zone Fighter.
Hedorah had the durability of a wet paper bag, Godzilla went through his body every time they fought and as you said the acid, atomic ray immunity and poison was why Godzilla couldn't put down Hedorah. Legendary Godzilla is far more durable and getting to his eyes will be harder since their smaller and more protected than Hedorahs. King Ghidorah despite not being himself in GvG still took a much stronger Godzilla and Angurius to be sent retreating. Titanosaurus while strong was crap compared to 75 Godzilla. He would have given 60's Godzilla a run for his money and might even had one. No argument with MechaGodzilla. Godzilla beating him had to do with the fact that despite his stronger weaponry he lacked the Melee to put Godzilla down. Also MechaGodzilla had stopped fighting when Godzilla flung him. Showa Godzilla needs to beat down his opponents to start throwing them around and while he can do this to Legendary it is going to be a lot harder.
Legendary swung his tail at supersonic speeds at had the disadvantage of being in a realistic movie. The Male however was bigger than Showa Godzilla. Titanosaurus when he punted Godzilla also put him out of the fight for several minuets. Godzilla never did engage Titano after the punt kick out the city. The Male is smaller yes, but the female was about the same size and they were working as a well oiled machine. Two weaker monsters can make a better tag team then two stronger ones. Same thing happens in WWE and even in Godzilla vs Gigan we saw this. Finally prove the Mutos weren't strong. As for durability they were heavily implied to survive a nuke. Showa also picked up a tree and beat Gigan and Megalon around, and neither came at him at the same time. Their both also a lot dumber than the Mutos.
Titano did all that after MechaGodzilla weakened Godzilla and while they were fighting together. Thanks for proving my point that the two of them together could beat Godzilla which was stated in the film. Also Shown in the Movie when one on one all Godzilla has to do is close the gap between himself and MechaGodzilla and he can Melee the machine to death. When MechaGodzilla 2 was created his weapons were increased in power but his Melee ability was completely gone which is why Titano was needed. If MechaGodzilla 2 had been a true upgrade Godzilla would have lost or needed help.
Your right he can't match MechaGodzilla. He can match Titanosaurs because Legendary is stronger than him. Legendary is on par in strength with Showa Godzilla. Legenday is also a hunter and smarter than Titanosaurs not to mention more durable.
The Male was about 2/3 his size, could fly and was staying out of range. Also I bring this up again, every single Godzilla that was on a 2 on 1 situation was over powered expect for when Showa fought Dumb and Dumber. All Legendary needs is Tackle, bite, stomp because unlike Titanosaurs he has to power to match Showa Godzilla and the durability to trade blows with him.
Your assuming that getting hit in the Gills will hurt G14 badly. Also Showa needs to over power to grab G14's tail which he is not doing right off the bat. If Showa goes for the tail G14 is going to swing it like he did to the Mail. As for Hedorah, throwing him around is not the biggest feat Showa Godzilla pulled off.
So you think that Showa could beat the crap of of Heisei and Godzilla 2000 as well then? Considering G14 ninja'd the Female he wasn't out for long. |

That makes no sense. The aliens were scaling up kaiju. Why would they randomly send in a cat 3 and then suddenly degrade to cat 1 and two?
54 Godzilla is a very different beast.
He was making the high pitched pain screeches and suddenly started running. That wasn't just annoying. In regards to the MUTOs, which fight do you mean?
Heisei and 2000 are superior due to being very liberal with their beam use and having powerful beams. Also, in Heisei's case, the building doesn't take him down for long. Whilst with 2014, he is down and out for quite a bit longer.
What's your point? That's like saying that because Monster X never beat an opponent on his level, he'd lose to Gabara, because Gabara could beat up Minya. The MUTOs are not exactly the strongest of opponents.
When Hedorah was getting the whip treatment, he didn't instantly fall apart. This was after getting weakened too. His body is not THAT weak. 2014's eyes are smaller, but it does show that Showa doesn't object to foul play like that
Anguirus barely did anything, let's be honest here. He hurt Ghidorah, but only when Godzilla already had Ghidorah in a lock
Not necessarily. Titanosaurus was far from being done when Godzilla picked him up and was ready to slam him.
Supersonic speeds? What? Sure didn't look like it. The male would not be bigger than Showa when scaled. Titano's city punt is sketchy, since we cut away to the scientists, but in the very next scene with them, Godzilla is back to scrapping with Titano. The first one didn't slow him down that much
![]() The female size range lies in between the orange and pink lines(her size changes a lot). She is not nearly the same size, not by any means. Godzilla vs Gigan was more of a three on one. The Godzilla Tower's laser was stupidly powerful and did the most damage
Concrete spikes impaling the male for one thing. I don't care if Godzilla's tail whip was the best thing ever, that's basically the equivalent to a kaiju dying from Rodan crashing into them.
I would hope so, seeing as they fed off of radiation. Never the less, concrete spikes are still the male's kryptonite
No, Gigan and Megalon tried to attack together several times. Godzilla either ignored their hits, threw them into each other, or dodged it. Watching that scene actually makes me respect his speed a lot more, he basically throws one to the ground and by the time they roll to their feet, their partner is down as well.
Not saying Titano could do that to a healthy Godzilla, more so pointing out his ridiculous strength. Legendary didn't quite manage anything like that and even if he did, we know Godzilla's got the guts to take a neck swing from Titano and proceed to headlock him
Titano is stronger than Showa, just less skilled. At the very least in the head and leg region, the arms are probably weaker. Legendary's hunting skills don't help much if his only tactic is tackle, bite, stomp.
The male was considerably smaller than that, this is especially evident when comparing him to the female MUTO. Also, I get that he's staying out of range, but if he's facing a flying foe, why not use his breath or use his tail? The fact that it took him so long to even try either of these tactics is not good. All of the other tag teams have been made of better kaiju than the MUTOs(except the Kamacuras) though. Also, Showa beat down the Gigan/Megalon tag team, the Kamacuras tag team and FW beat down the Showa Allies team,
Titano had plenty of power, just not enough speed or skill. Kind of like Legendary. Legendary can't trade blows, unless he can push Godzilla down, he's not doing anything. Even if he does, there's no reason Showa can just throw him off by lifting his foot
When the MUTOs hit him in the gills, he certainly reacted with pain. If the rest of his body reacts the same way, that's not good either. Showa doesn't always go for an overpower first, he went for MG's tail with very little melee before hand in TOMG. There's also the Titano slam example, where Titano wasn't really that beaten up. Also, 2014's tail takes a full four-three seconds to wind-up, he's not going to use that as a counter measure if Showa is behind him.
Is there a bigger one? I wasn't aware.
He could tackle Heisei and punch him in the face, but the relentless beam spam and regeneration would take him down more quickly. 2000 has his shoop da whoop laser that makes massive explosions and tears off giant chunks of flesh. Also, 2000's melee isn't half bad. It's not good, but it's respectable enough to where he can shove Showa away long enough to fire his shoop da whoop. There was a ten minute gap, IIRC, between the building falling on his head and him showing up. |
