Okay guys...let's make this clear. This isn't a hate thread. I'm rewatching DB, Dbz, and GT clips and I actually laughed at them when it's something funny. I don't even have nostalgia for the 3 since it only been a few years since I've seen them and I haven't even finished GT. BoG was funny too. But when I see the gags from RoF(Whis stepping in poop) and Super. I just don't laugh or they get a "pity" laugh. Have I simply outgrown Toriyama toilet humor or modern Toriyama just isn't funny? |

I personally never found the comedy good in DB. I just loved how ridiculous and silly everything was. I don't think Toriyama's humor is bad, it's probably just not my kind of humor. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

If you still like his humour back then, then yeah you probably just don't like his current sense of humour. I don't find much of his new material funny either. I found DragonBall funny, though. Really funny. His humour right now isn't really funny to me, maybe he lost/changed some of it after writing serious story-lines like the Piccolo Saga and Freeza Saga and Cell Saga. I also didn't like the Boo Saga humour. |

I agree SHC it's like since Buu saga(well IMO RoF) it's a dry sense of humor over immature humor |

Any scene with Roshi, Oolong & Bulma were ROFL Better yet, watch Fusion Reborn. The entire movie.had this slapstick humor stapled over it. Jokes in BOG & ROF were garbage Doesnt hold a candle to heyday DB's jokes. |

The humour was easier to pull off when the cast was made up of naive immature kids, teenagers, and talking animals looking to find the magic Dragonballs for some silly reason. However, with the drastic shift towards a more serious storytelling manga in the Piccolo Daimaou arc, it's difficult to return back to those roots because of how the characters and the tone changed in order to accommodate this new style. I know BoG is praised for being a lighthearted roller coaster, but part of me wishes we could see a more serious take on Beerus' character than just the self-indulgent childish cat who cries over lost pudding or being woken up. |
