Japanese voices

Once I learned via the internet about just how much in the English dub was changed for the worse, I quickly switched to the original Japanese version and never looked back. At least for Z anyway — nowadays I do enjoy FUNi's current and much more well-dubbed DB material like Kai and the new films.

It didn't take me long to adjust and appreciate Nozawa as the Son family dudes. I understood the whole "Goku has the voice of a young boy because he's still got the heart and soul of one" thematic aspect, as well as the practical "why ditch and replace the VA" one.

Perhaps this can be excused for Goku and Goten, but why in the world do Tullece, Bardock, and post-puberty Gohan have a voice that sounds like they were kicked in the nuts? Are they also children at heart?

It's their voice. Not everyone sounds the same.

Even AT said when he thought of Goku's voice he straight away thought of her.

Because Tullece is portrayed as an evil doppelganger of Goku, Gohan is still "innocent" like Goku, and Bardock looks like Goku. Nozawa still uses subtly different voices for all of them.

I agree with Bardock but Gohan post puberty sounds much different than Goku.

It's high pitched squeaking that brings to mind Call of Duty kids with the microphone on. There are some individual differences, and that's definitely respectable, but in the end, they have the Call of Duty squeaker syndrome going on.
That's definetely only your problem. And it sounds more like a nitpick, to be honest.

"They sound like Call of Duty kids". What kind of statement is that? You say the same thing over and over and I don't get it.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

It's just irritating to me. Granted, I'd prefer that to the horrible scripting of the original Z, but with Kai's English dub, I am far better off.

Just too squeaky for me.

I much prefer the english voices for most of the characters. They just sound way cooler and iconic to me. Nozawa is obviously an iconic voice too but practically every English voice is so memorable. Perfect cell sounded so good. Frieza sounds really good now too. Goku's English voice doesn't portray his character as well as his Japanese voice but it's still really good and it just sounds way cooler. These are manly fighters not chipmunks

But I do like some of their voices too. Most of the Japanese voices even including son family sound pretty good once they start raising their voices and yelling. It's unique and badass in its own way

The resident GT fan!

Not a hater or anything but I don't like the voices in Japanese at all, I believe the English dub is on a whole other level but that's just me after all :D .
