Still the two are different in looks , thats sure.

Mozilla Firefox Favourite Manga Berserk all day erry day	Well it's hard not to explain without spoiling it I guess...but the anime has mentioned Kaguya I'm pretty sure, the mother of the Sage of the Six Paths. Basically the eye power she had is what Sasuke has been granted, like the Mangekyo they seem to have a unique power also.

If anyone had the original Rinnegan it's the Sage, and Madara's developed as naturally as Sasuke's.... Honestly I don't think it's addressed why Sasuke's Rinnegan looks different to the others. We only have 3 Rinnegan shown in series: Hagoromo's, Madara's (which was also used by Nagato and Obito at different points) and Sasuke's. The first two seem to be the same, they have the same pattern and appear in both eyes. Sasuke's is different, it is only in his left eye and contains Tomoe. It might be because of the way he received the powerup (having gotten half the Sage's chakra through his left side, so it wasn't "naturally awakened" like the other two presumably were). Also want to point out that Sasuke's Rinnegan is not the same as the one that Kaguya is shown to have had on her forehead. It is only ever compared to Madara's, no one brings it up as being like Kaguya's. That's different, both in position and colour. Besides, Madara awakens that one and it's clearly not the same as Sasuke's. Sasuke's Rinnegan does seem to function the same as Madara's for the most part though. He has a unique technique with it but so does Madara, so it's probably similar to the case of MS where different people can get different powers.
