How can Tien forgive Picclo but not Vegeta?

Piccolo and his father are two different people. He was just acting out his father's ambitions out as life planned for him so he didn't know much better.

What he's done is potatoes to the mass genocide Vegeta committed and did quite joyfully I may add.

I don't think Tenshinhan ever forgave either of them but really, maybe because Piccolo actively tried to change his ways. Piccolo by himself wasn't even all that much of an antagonist for Tenshinhan. King PIccolo killed Chaoutzu but Piccolo ain't King Piccolo and ever since his first appearance and battle with Goku at the 23rd Budokai, PIccolo has slowly been surely been trying to change his ways.

He's leading the battle against the Saiyans, protecting people and even sacrificing his own life. He does the same thing on Namek, he's not being an arrogant dick trying to prove how powerful and evil he is. He nearly gets killed by Freeza protecting Goku. Come to Cell Arc, helping everyone fight the cyborgs.

And this constantly builds up to the point where its shocking to think Piccolo was once supposed to be an evil villain hell bent on taking over the world. One can even see it as a huge redemption for King PIccolo whom after splitting with god, finally gets to merge, becoming a wiser, stronger figure. It's like letting the devil back into heaven.

Vegeta meanwhile is killing everyone in sight, stroking his ego constantly, hates everyone and everything that's not him, helps starts almost all the problems in the series due to his ego, kills even more people due to his ego in the Boo Arc and its only around the end where its like he starts going through any semblance of regret and change.

Who'd want to forgive Vegeta? I wouldn't...he's a dick.

Because Piccolo actually tried to be useful during the Saiyan Saga and so forth. And on top of all that, Vegeta and his comrade killed almost all of his friends including himself. Although, it's likely Tenshinhan still doesn't trust Piccolo, based on this quote from the manga.

Chapter: 347 (DBZ 153), P3.5
Tenshinhan: “I don’t like that Piccolo and Vegeta have powered up so extraordinarily, but for now at least it’s a relief…”

So really, Tien doesn't trust neither.

Yeah, that's true. This was before the Kami fusion too, so he most likely started trusting Piccolo after that.

Piccolo did kill Chaozu. Honestly, I don't understand Tenshinhan's bias here.
Because Piccolo got over his grudge while Vegeta still openly acted like he was going to kill Goku and become enemies with everyone once their mutual enemy was dead. That and Vegeta was arrogant, vain, and threateningly hostile, whereas Piccolo was not. Also the previous few posts are also true

It all had to do with their attitudes. Piccolo was more reserved and overtly fought the good fight. Vegeta was a hostile nutcase that only tolerated the others because of Goku, and only truly changed after Boo's defeat.

Naturally it's a little easier to relax around a calm person than someone who's constantly on edge and could snap your neck just because it sounded like a good idea at the time.

Hypocrisy? It's heavily implied that Timeen never forgave Vegeta. Yet he forgive Piccolo. What's the deal with that? King Piccolo was far worse to Earth than the Saiyans were.
Because Ten is not the strongest human; that's why.

Piccolo was also just the evil expelled from Kami. He didn't really have any choice, he was literally born to be evil. Vegeta is the sum of his experiences but it seems like he had more choice than Piccolo did.

Vegeta was forced to be evil if you go by the early canon English dub.

Piccolo does show some respect to the humans IIRC and also fought alongside the humans against a common threat, the saiyans. Also after that battle Piccolo clearly fights for the good side (against Frieza, androids and so on) while Vegeta keeps the a*** attitude to everyone and only fights for his own selfish desires. Only in the Buu Arc we see Vegeta having a real change of heart and Tien isn't a big part of that particular Arc, so there's that.
