How can Tien forgive Picclo but not Vegeta?

My Dear Melancholy,

Hypocrisy? It's heavily implied that Tien never forgave Vegeta. Yet he forgive Piccolo. What's the deal with that? King Piccolo was far worse to Earth than the Saiyans were.

I don't think Tenshinhan saw Piccolo and King Piccolo as the same person, even-though they were said to be that (since they did say his soul was in Piccolo Jr. or something).

Piccolo also never talked down to the humans, like Vegeta did a lot of times, even after he gradually turned good. Vegeta still called them weaklings or ants or bugs or pieces of trash. He looked at them almost as nothing at times, whereas Piccolo never really did that even when he was evil.

Also King-Piccolo also showed hints of not being completely evil, even when Snow (I think it was her) opposed him, and I think threw something at him (or something like that) he didn't do anything, and just ignored her. Even-though I'm not sure whether that was only the anime.

Piccolo Jr. saved a mother & her child before the 23rd-Tournament. Even-though that might have been filler, too.

Could it be anything to do with Chiaotzu? Piccolo never killed Chiaotzu, I know Vegeta didn't. But if Vegeta and Nappa never had went to Earth then Chiaotzu wouldn't have risked his life to kill Nappa. Maybe Tien holds Vegeta responsible for his and Chiaotzu deaths in the Saiyan saga.

Piccolo did kill Chaozu. Honestly, I don't understand Tenshinhan's bias here.

It's Gohan's influence over Piccolo that made everybody forgive him. Vegeta never had that.

This, pretty much.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Because Piccolo was also bald. Vegeta had hair causing Tenshinhan to be jealous of him.

Why isn't Tenshinhan jealous of Chiaotzu then?

They joined together against a common enemy in the Saiyan saga and I'm sure he heard of Piccolo's sacrifice to save Gohan in the afterlife. Vegeta, on the other hand, didn't do anything for anyone else. Well, unless there was something in it for him.

Piccolo's villainy wasn't nearly so ingrained into Tien's perception of him as it was for Vegeta. The only time he posed a substantial threat which Tien could appreciate was at the 23rd tournament. What danger he did pose to everyone was counterbalanced by the fact that Goku was powerful enough to rein him in with no palpable consequences to his actions besides the island being devastated. The next time they meet each other, it's under different circumstances where they're fighting together against a common enemy. Tien even makes a remark about being grateful that Piccolo is on their side, at least temporarily, when he dispenses with the last of the Saibamen while saving Gohan in the process.

Contrast that with Vegeta whose actions left a far more damning impact with the deaths of Yamcha and his closest friend, Chiaotzu, before being mercilessly brutalised by Nappa himself. The circumstances were at grave odds with the 23rd tournament because now it was a desperate struggle for everyone just to stay alive against a substantially more dangerous opponent. Half of the Z-Warriors died in battle against the Saiyans, and the other half was left hospitalised for some time. How do you think someone would feel towards the man who perpetrated so much pain and suffering towards himself and his closest friends? It's not like Vegeta did anything to try and redeem himself in the eyes of the humans. The next time Tien met with the Saiyan Prince, it was in the Trunks arc while he was relishing in the comfort of living with one of the most prosperous families on the planet. Wouldn't it offend you if the aforementioned perpetrator who sanctioned your death was having his crimes brushed under the carpet by others while enjoying the luxuries of being with your friend's girlfriend?

It doesn't help Vegeta's case that he never treated Tien or the other human fighters with any kind of respect or dignity. Piccolo at least valued his participation against the Saiyans. Later during the search for the cyborgs, he placed his trust in both him and Krillin while they were off searching for Gero. I think Piccolo gradually began to earn Tien's trust when he was treated with some kind of respect as fellow warriors. That never came with Vegeta, and neither were there ever any direct attempts to make amends between the two of them. Vegeta didn't care what Tien thought of him. So why should Tien give any appreciation in return?

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I think it more had to do with Vegeta's attitude toward what happened in the past.
Vegeta didn't actually become mindful of the consequences of his actions until the Boo Arc, when Tenshinhan was no longer involved with the main plot and didn't interact with Vegeta at that point.

Piccolo at least started to change with Gohan's influence during the Saiyan arc, and went out of his way to help them protect Earth against the Androids. Not to mention that Piccolo developed the plan to revive all of them and return them to Earth during the Freeza Arc.

Tien forgave piccolo?

Last I checked when they all were observing and making comments about their power and being ... Gohan and Krillin were ecstatic and trusting of the two at 19/20 ... Tien expressed displeasure and mistrust at both for their power and intentions after a threat was gone to the planet ... He trusted neither of them and has never stated other wise since and only reunited with the group after cell in filler (the party), bulk as birthday (in bog and super) and rof

Even from promotional material, movies, and toriyama it's pretty much stated that he only deals with Yamcha and Chaiotzu regularly
