Simple question, not so simple answer. I mean in the grand scheme of things not "ugh what's the point life is horrible blah blah blah" As in why does life exist and is there a need for it? Of course you could ask why anything, why is there gravity, stars, carbon etc etc but let us refrain from doing so. What use does life have in the universe? All it does is slowly consume resources on a planet until it or the planet itself dies so...why? Only thing that comes to mind is that higher beings may have created the universe and simply got bored, otherwise before life existed(aside from higher beings) there would just be no value to it. |

I don't think it's for anything. We just happen to exist for a relatively short period of time and so we need to enjoy ourselves before it's over. |

when you say "resources", it implies that it's there to be used. what else are they going to be used for? |

I don't know. but i believe we are special, not an accident. and there is many lies to make you think otherwise. I have no personal proof, but i think this place where we live is much different than what science tells us.

Just because there isn't a reason for our existence doesn't mean it's pointless. There is no point in our existence in terms of why we're here i.e. it doesn't matter to the world or the universe that we're here (and if anything, all humans do is f*** everything up), but in relation to other humans and our own brains, there are plenty of reasons to continue to exist. |

There is no inherent value to life, it's simply a result of different things in the Universe coming together to form the conditions of life by pure coincidence. Life as we know it doesn't need to exist in the Universe, it'd be just the same if it was entirely barren of life. As for life on a human level, we carve out our own meaning as we traverse it. |

There is no meaning of life. Life just exists to exist. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

We're not sure exactly but i think there is a purpose. Earth supports life so well and for us to potentially(I said potentially. Don't tear me apart) be the only sentient life in the universe, and just seeing how everything works... Personally it's kind of hard to think this all just happened by chance

I like to think that there is some ultimate goal. As powerful as the major forces in the universes are like black holes and stars life can do so much they can't, it would be cool if higher beings or whatever put something out there to see if their creations could discover and understand it. Though obviously I'd be long dead before we got anywhere with that, would still be cool if that was a thing. |

I just want to clarify in case someone wondered; No I don't have suicidal tendencies, I was just trying to make a point. As far as living goes, I'm perfectly comfortable with the way I live life. I have no prospects and no ultimate goal in life, I just live every day as if was the last. Ultimately that might kill me off before I reach a very old age, but I'm fine with that. I do what pleases me and at the same time I try to be the best I can be. While I don't think I myself have a purpose in life, I do believe some people do. People that invent, make a political difference etc, those people that make life easier for others. They deserve our respect. |

Philosophy I imagine would help in figuring out an individual purpose in life. Life is what you make of it, as others have said, there is no inherent value. We do not create stars or spew out celestial bodies in an attempt to maintain a balance quota, in fact, if anything, our presence and our nature could be seen as detrimental to a balance as we do have a tendency to destroy rather than maintain. |

In my personal thought process, there is no point to life....and thats what makes it special. The entire universe, the planets, out solar system and thus ourselves, are all created by a collection of infinite coincidences, ranging from the creation of the universe itself, to the evolution of life as we know it up until this point in time. Its so random, and could have happened anywhere else, but its here. and its now. Thus my mind set is, because its so infinite improbable that we even existed to begin with, that's what make us special, and keeps me going. Jobs/money etc are all meaningless at the end of the day, but to be alive and just exist when everything else is just by pure fluke coincidence, I think is amazing. |

Anyone out there reading this, that is not sure. you can make up your own mind. we are special. there is no proof of a big bang or evolution. you are special, more than just a brain, the brain is like a computer for your body. here is something to think about. how does gravity hold down tons of water, and not crush us? question things. |
