So there's this comedian called Steve Rannazzisi who had a stand-up special I enjoyed a few years back. He claimed to have been in the World Trade Centre during the 9/11 attack, but a few weeks ago that was revealed to be a lie. It tarnished my view of him a little, but then last night I saw he had a new stand-up special and I ended up buying it and watching it. So obviously what he did didn't affect me that much. So my question is, what would it take for you to not enjoy the work of somebody that you previously enjoyed? One major example is the lead singer of the Lost Prophets being found guilty of sexual abuse of children as young as 1 years old. If there are any fans of the Lostprophets, did that stop you listening to them? Or if you haven't experienced anything like this, do you think theoretically it would stop you enjoying that person's work? I was gonna put this in general discussion, so if a staff member thinks it should be moved then be my guest, but I think this is a deep enough question to warrant being posted here. |

Well, I stopped enjoying Hulk Hogan many years ago, but I lost all respect for him when his racist rant was leaked. It's even worse that instead of owning up to it, like he should have, he instead started pointing fingers and crying like a b***. It was funny that he retweeted all those trolls though. So yeah, general "Dick-like behaviour." |

Sexual assault and being a racist are the only two things that would change my opinion of someone. |

Somebody just generally hating on other people or generally being intolerant of others. Hogan is a big one recently, for me at least, but if you decide to pick on others/have a go at them because of something silly then its just low. We're all people, and all have our own races/cultures/sexual preferences and stuff, and that's awesome. |

Michael Richards was a good example. His racial slurs during a stand-up show years ago really made me think about who this person really is. I've watched a few things of him since: - His appearance in the 7th Season of Curb of Enthusiasm took a little bit of that away since he did the same thing in a more comedic and intentional way. Showed me he had humor about it. - His appearance in an episode of Jerry Seinfeld's 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee' where he reflects on the incident and realizes that nobody is perfect. Showed me he regrets it and has modesty. So in way, he has managed to repair the reputation he lost after the racial slurs incident. |

- Just being a dick in general: I used to defend Justin Bieber, because he had some good songs and people were attacking him too much. Then he became a full-blown t***, I don't think I have to give examples here, we all know the stories. Never defended him again. - Sexual Abuse/Child Molestation: Don't have an wxample at the moment, but yeah. That would do it. - Their ego becomes too big: This especially happens with sportsmen. First you root for them, they're talented and manage to get to. Big club, then they play one okay match and suddenly they're a f***ing fusion between Maradona and Pele. Most recent example: Memphis Depay, scores twice against Club Brugge, now a c***. |

Generally just s***ty behaviour. Like I can't stand Jennifer Lawrence because under all of the cutesy dolt behaviour and great PR there are loads of stories of her being really s***ty to the crew of films, like wiping her fingers on and staining one-of-a-kind costumes on her lunchbreaks that means someone has to run off and clean them on an incredibly tight film schedule. Or Scarlett Johansen because when she was challenged on the hypocracy of being a UN ambassador to the Middle East but also doing ads for companies with proven human rights offenses in the Middle East, chose to give up the ambassador role rather than the ads. Both great actresses who I have no time for. THe one closest to my heart though is Louis CK, probably my favourite stand up comedian and someone I otherwise really like, of whom there are lots of rumours floating around that he sexually harrassed many young women, both staff and young comedians looking to catch a break by working with him. Yet to be wholly confirmed but it's too persistent to be entirely unfounded, so I'm avoiding purchasing anything of his until it clears up, and if it's true I'll be avoiding him altogether. Hard choice but the right one. |

nothing ever really tarnishes my enjoyment of their material. they could be a terrible person and if I still like what they put out I'll continue to read/watch/listen to/etc their stuff, but that doesn't mean i think they would be good to hang out with or associate with |

This is only about comedians. For me, its when they crack jokes on anything that has to do with Yah. Also murder, that'll cause me to respect a comedian less. |

Actually reminds me of that whole drama with David Letterman sleeping with some of his female staff. Edited by Emmeth, Nov 21 2015, 11:09 AM.
