Any Super Butōden 2 lovers out there? If so, I'm gonna share the 5 main reasons we love Super Butōden 2.

1. Enhanced visuals

While far from a technical powerhouse for the Super Famicom, Super Butōden 2 is still very visually appealing. Aside from improving the blocky character sprites from it's predecessor and it's animation, it had a wide variety of settings such as the snowy mountains, the Tenkaichi Budokai ring, right above the ocean, and the night stage. You can even send your opponent to different parts of each stage (Budokai, eat your heart out).

2. Playability and aesthetics

Super Butōden 2 is, surprisingly enough for a pre-Budokai DBZ fighter, a competent fighter but it's numerous quirks and unique mechanics is what truly sets it apart from the traditional fighter. The controls were much less clunky than it's predecessor and had more defensive options but like it, it had a flight mechanic... which was unheard of in a fighting game and cinematic super moves. You now had the ability to build up your ki guage, it also introduced Meteor smashes which varied depending on the stage, and a bunch of character-specifics.

3. Fanservice

This game is one of the first that felt like a love letter to fans. It was the first to feature movie-only characters including Broly and it's story mode featured some what ifs such as Future Trunks fighting evil clones made by Dr. Gero.

4. Story time, story time!!

Super Butōden 2 has possibly one of the most intriguing Story Mode/Single-player campaign in any DBZ fighter. It took great liberty of the DBZ story (Cell Games - Bojack Unbound movie) by allowing you to take alternate paths within the story.

5. Goku, hurry.... oh wait!!

This game is memorable as being the only DBZ game thus far to not feature Goku as a playable character (though he can be unlocked through a cheatcode). Not that we want Goku away but it's an interesting change of pace as this right after Goku's death at the Cell Games and it shows Gohan as taking up the mantle.

Okay? Now, give your 5 reasons for loving this lovely game?
