So I was basically watching the infamous scene where Cell absorbs this man before fighting Piccolo, I was scrolling the comments and saw that a youtuber commented that why bother absorb humans if their PL is 1-10. Now I always had this lingering in my mind, but how did Cell went from being weaker than Caped Kamiccolo to rivaling Android 16 just by absorbing humans whose powerlevel on average is 5 ? Even if he absorbed 1 Million Human, he would only win 5 million which is barely an increase. Thoughts ? |

He absorbed their life-energy, not their power(-level).

Excuse my obliviousness, But isn't their life energy their power level ? Even if he absorbed their life energy, they are simply too weak to make him stronger than 17. |

Nah, Life-Energy is the energy they live by. It's the same thing that TenShinHan used against Cell or Goku asks for in the Genki-Dama, Life-Force I think. Which isn't inter-changeable with Ki. |

He ate their bio-matter and took every last scrap of their life. Think of it like the "Final Explosion" of each human

Ah okay. How much their powerlevel would be if it was the same cell absorbs ?(I'm kind of a sucker for powerlevels) |

When Cell absorbs someone, he's not simply adding their power level to his. He's absorbing their tissues, therefore it becomes substance that he uses for his own body. His own body then takes that, and manufactures it into ki. Therefore, he could absorb someone with a PL of 4, but that nutrients that he gets from their tissues could cause him to gain 1,000 from it. It's his body that produces the ki, he just intakes the matter and ki from someone else. It's basically the same thing as you eating a burger. How much ability you gain from eating that burger depends on the condition of the body that you have prior to eating the burger. The burger simply provides you with sustenance, you're not gaining the cow's power level. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Sep 19 2015, 02:27 AM.

Bio-matter, bio-extract, or life-force. Those all work.

They only absorb raw energy, which doesn't neccesarily mean that they simply add someone's PL to their own. For example, when Gero absorbed Vegeta's blast, it's possible that Vegeta's blast was concentrated, in which we see that concentrating ki makes the PL higher when Raditz reads Goku and Piccolo. There's not more ki, it's just concentrated so the level seems higher. So for example, say that Vegeta's blast had a power level of 100, but it doesn't mean that Gero gets 100 from that. If Vegeta's blast was concentrated, Gero could only get 55 from it, or something. The concentration increases the level, but the ki amount remains low. |
