I could see the use for people who live far away from the city or they have no time to go to the shopping mall because of work, but wouldn't online shopping make everyday people fattier because they have less incentive to go out? I was watching news report that online food shopping is a trend Edited by Zoom, Sep 16 2015, 12:42 AM.

No because most people have jobs and they get their exercise from that. |

Shopping wouldn't really do much anyway unless you have to walk a lot, most people take their cars anyway. I actually find online shopping to be way better, it lets me limit what I buy better. Whereas at an actual shop it's like BUY ALL THE TASTY THINGS. I frequently go for a £10 shop and end up spending £30... But online, just order what's needed. |

Well, yeah, but in most cases people still need to take a bus (teenagers) or drive (for adults) and most shopping malls i've seen are pretty huge you'll walk around the stores up and down. Online shopping takes away the need to go to the shop, and gives you more time to play games inside your house. |

If you care about your health, shopping online shouldn't stop you from maintaining a healthy lifestyle via diet or regular exercise. Ofc some ppl just don't care and whether they shop online or not, they'd be overweight. |

I shop online because I can't stand crowds or people most of the time, a big shopping centre is not much fun unless you enjoy bumping into people who don't say sorry and being run over by prams. I'll look round the local city centre every few days, it's nowhere near as busy as a shopping centre. Also, no decent PC shops in shopping centres, so the only real way to buy is online. |

Shopping in stores makes you poorer. Pretty much everything in cheaper online, and you don't have the other expenses like paying for gas or bus tickets. You also lose a lot more time. |

Nope, generally you'd expect the opposite. When you go to a store you are more susceptible to impulse purchases (because stores are laid out in such a way to encourage that) so you're more likely to buy stuff you don't really need. Online you just type in what you want and grab that, saving you both time and money, as well as avoiding the unhealthy food if you want to avoid that. And really, you don't get that much benefit from the exercise of walking around a shop. |

Keyboard Warrior 1. A Person who, being unable to express his anger through physical violence (owning to their physical weakness, lack of bravery and/or conviction in real life), instead manifests said emotions through the text-based medium of the internet, usually in the form of aggressive writing that the Keyboard Warrior would not (for reasons previously mentioned) be able to give form to in real life. 2. Keyboard Warriors are generally identified by unneccessary rage in their written communications, and are regarded as 'losers' by other virtual identities on the internet. | |

Going to the mall is more likely to have a negative effect on my physical health than shopping online. When I go to the mall that cuts out time I could be using to work out. The time it takes to get to the mall, go from store to store, wait in lines and then get back home is about a 2+ hour event. When I shop online, it's usually quick and efficient and then I can go work out. The exercise I get walking around a mall is nothing compared to even a light jog for 10-15 minutes. |

If you shop enough that it counts as part of your exercise routine then you must have deep pockets and shop for hours a day, every day. Plus, if shopping is your main reason for leaving the house then you need to get out more. I'd say the average person goes shopping once a week, possibly twice, for anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours of walking (assuming you walk everywhere and don't bus it or drive: that's not enough that taking it away would see drastic changes in your weight. |
