Google Chrome Favourite Manga DBZ, Full Metal Alchemist	There's a TV programme being advertised on the BBC called 'Could a robot do my job?' and I thought it might make for an interesting discussion. The robot revolution on the job market is already being felt in some areas (one example being self-service checkouts). How much of a problem do you feel that an increase in jobs being handled by computers and robots will be in the future? It will be cost-effective for companies to go down this route, but that will result in a dramatic decrease in jobs available to humans. Are you worried about the security of your own job? Do you think that it will reach a point where some sort of cap on computer/robot labour will have to be enforced to keep people in work?

There are task completing robots, they just aren't very efficient (cost/price/size). We do have software that mimics the human brain to perform very complex tasks and predictions. We haven't uncovered everything about the human brain, but I don't see why that would matter in making artificial intelligence. Common2 Sep 14 2015, 09:35 PM Robots will never replace researchers. Mozilla Firefox Favourite Manga Berserk all day erry day	They already exist though, we already have automated factories. I wonder how long it will be before we start using some sort of robot to fight wars? Like more Terminator than the ones the military fly to launch air strikes. Obviously not as high tech as Terminators. War with robots would be weird but on the bright side they would mop up insurgents and the like easily cleansing war zones much faster than human soldiers could. Wonder what would happen to all the then outdated soldiers?

Who want robot sports... I do! They can crazier sports if we do that, racing with weapons but everyone's safe because robots are doing it wirelessly. Though we have to get them personality modules first. For the most part no, they can't do most of your jobs, unless they're very specifically manual labor or assembly or other jobs that are entirely rote memory and actions. AI is gonna have to get allot more sophisticated before they can take over the more complex jobs.

They do not, by themselves, do research. That's like saying the LHC is capable of doing research. Buuberries linked you to a previous AI thread.
