This so much. So many people fail to see this and act like Gohan has been studying, has no fighting skill, and has not been interested in getting stronger his entire life; which is complete bulls***. As you say, Gohan only neglects his training when there is no threat, when the world is at complete peace. Gohan is dedicated towards training, getting stronger and fighting when it comes to protecting the world and those he cares about, probably more so than Goku and Vegeta, he has a strong burning need to protect those he loves from danger just like Future Trunks did, while Goku half the time, and Vegeta most of the time, are doing it for the thrill of the fight. As far as drive to get stronger goes: When there's a threat: Gohan's Drive > Goku's Drive = Vegeta's Drive When the world is at Peace: Goku's Drive = Vegeta's Drive >>> Gohan's Drive Also like you say: Gohan was hyped up throughout the entirery of DBZ, from his introduction to the end, so much more than Vegeta and Goku ever were. Quoting: "His rage boosts, his hidden potential, being a hybrid, achieving SSJ at such a young age, first to achieve SSJ2 at the age of 9(10), saying he could be greater than anyone if he was angry enough, then the build up to him becoming the Ultimate warrior. He was the prodigy." This is the truth and so many act like it never happened to defend Super/The Films. Edited by Raiken, Aug 30 2015, 12:30 AM.

What gets me is the Gohan and half Saiyans having greater potential than the full bloods thing being established since the Freeza arc mantra ..... Gohans rage was legendary, but his power wasn't shown to play up to the level of the full bloods without magic. Gohan used magic to get as strong as he was on Namek. The same kinda magic put Krillin far above the Ginyus, made it so Tien could never catch up, and had piccolo pre nail calling him a big power. On Namek, Goku and Vegeta without magic became 6, 7, 8, and 9 digit fighters. Goku surpassed Frieza. In the future that trunks came from, Gohan never achieved the power that Goku had when he came back from Yardrat. Trunks with the same training, never surpassed his father and was awed by him. Gohan surpassed them at cell with a mix of rage and past magic, but he never was able to regain that power on his own when calmed down. Years later Gohan is passed by once again by both Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta was correct when he uttered that he was the strongest living being in the universe at the time before Babadi ever boosted his power. Goku was worlds above both. Had Vegeta or Goku been trained with the z sword which got Gohans power up in a hurry, then they would have been even stronger than he was before he broke it. Gohan say around on his but for a day and got a great power boost, and he still lost and needed them to save him and fight for the fate of the universe because they thought he was too inept to get it done vs kid Buu without making things worst. Gohan is supposed to be the one who cares so much but I don't see it. He loses to Buu, gets himself absorbed as well as his brothers and the planet blown up, but he doesn't train after a second chance at life. He doesn't bother to train at all in the super verse or movie verse. He lets himself get weaker, once again. He didn't learn from not training after cell and being unable to take Dabura down. Hell you can argue he didn't learn from cell at all as he toyed with super Buu and never tried to kill him because he was stronger and got a kick out of embarrassing him. There's nothing that says Gohan cares to protect them all, nothing that says he learns from past mistakes, and nothing that said shout magic being involved twice on his behalf he was ever set to be stronger than Goku or Vegeta on his own merit |

He didn't kill Boo because he was checking how strong Boo was. He wasn't sure how strong he was after the power-up and stretched his legs a little. Better than going in full throttle and realising that you're not strong enough to win. Plus, I don't think anyone actually told Gohan how to beat Boo. He doesn't know much about Boo at all, he didn't even see Boo regenerate before he fought Evil Boo, iirc. People greatly exaggerate that whole fight. It barely lasted a chapter, iirc, and even if he had toyed around for multiple chapters, that's nothing special. Goku did it through the entire saga, and he's fought enough to learn to not do it. It isn't a problem that's unique to him, and having a power high isn't exactly uncommon in the series (though, Gohan didn't.) |

Would be dope to maybe get another upgrade. Like he got mystic. Like maybe from a different Kai or whis? Something along the lines of a deity. Doubt he will be a god though |
