Muten Roshi and Chi-Chi were pretty much always treated as such by Toei. Stupid as it is, its almost nothing new to see at this point. I can't recall how much Krillin has been messed around. However I don't remember Boo being so...dickish here. I remember Boo has a very playful fellow who was best friends with Mr. Satan. The Boo I knew wouldn't have beaten his best friend nor would I see him as being so selfish. At least not to this degree where his actions are completely unlikable. Beerus however has probably been hit the worst. He's a straight villain right now with only a few quirks to him. It's no different than Freeza at this point. He's just a cruel villain who practically gets off on others suffering. He doesn't care what you say and he'll basically torture you to death. He may have a few minor perks to him, but this is almost always overshadowed by his depravity. He's almost nothing like he was in Battle of Gods, where he came off as much more of a fun loving and quirky anti-villain with shades of danger, pride and honor. People say this is better but I heavily disagree. It took the characterization that made him unique in the first place and made him into another typical villain we've seen countless times. |

Does Beerus count? He's kind of a different character rather than a flanderization, and honestly it saddens me a bit to see Beerus go from an interesting mentor to another villain. I could see him teaching Goku and Vegeta, but this guy honestly I don't see him teaching them anything, heck I barely see him even waiting long enough for SSJG to appear now, and I certainly don't see him letting Earth live if Goku actually puts him on the ropes a bit unless he actually loses. This cat isn't the guy that talked to Goku, either at King Kai's planet or over Earth in BoG. He's a better villain, but honestly in my opinion it's like if you took Roshi-No, it's more like if you took Korin and turned him into the Crane Hermit, yeah he's a better villain, but he wasn't one to begin with nor was he meant to be. Beerus in BoG was not a villain, he was an interesting antagonist, this one could be replaced with Cooler for all the difference it would make. If he doesn't count then it's probably Chi-Chi for me, I really liked her in the Dragon ball series, though honestly that's nothing new with Dragon Ball. Edited by Tinny, Aug 24 2015, 03:54 AM.

He's a straight up villain now. He's lost all of those anti-villain perks that him interesting in the movie. Even at his worst, in the movie he's only played as a rather dangerous and uncertain force but he never loses that care-free nature. Just look at his interactions in the last few episodes and in Battle of Gods. In the movie, Beerus was joining on the fun, break dancing. His interactions with Vegeta are subtle and most of the people end up attacking him first while he's being a good sport. In Super, almost every interaction with Beerus is him blowing up planets and basically being pure evil. What was a dick move to King Vegeta in the movie is practically physical and verbal torture in Super. To the point where it seems like he straight up killed him. He interaction at the party is just to stand around and look at Yamcha as if daring to touch him again. He tortures Vegeta and his slap against Bulma, treated as an almost minor inconvenience in the movie is treated in Super like he straight up violated her in front of Vegeta. He's played off as a completely evil and straight up unlikable character which is a far cry from his portrayal in the movie. Let's be quite honest, the most evil thing Beerus ever did in the movie was hit Bulma and that was a light slap compared to how Super portrayed it. Super has vastly decreased all of the positive perks he had while vastly increasing all of the negative ones he had. Edited by EMIYA, Aug 24 2015, 05:37 AM.

I don't find Beerus's change in personality disheartening, but he's definitely different, and I can't say I prefer this portrayal after viewing episode 7. While I do think Beerus's general dickotry adds to the tension of Vegeta's struggle, I think they went a little too far by having Beerus step on Vegeta's head and attempt to kill him because Vegeta simply tried to reason with Beerus. Maybe they're setting Beerus up for character development, but as it stands right now, he's not as fun as he once was. As for Boo, yeah... What the f*** happened? I don't recall Boo being a general dick. Edited by ThePrinceOfSaiyans, Aug 24 2015, 01:29 PM.

I like Beerus better here than in BoG. I don't see a problem with Goku, Chi-chi, Krillin or Roshi. While Buu is really childish, I don't really mind him at all. But I'd vote Buu.He wasn't this selfish in Z. |

So stepping on King Vegeta's head, and blowing up planets makes him a villain now? I get the Bulma portion but Buu literally did the same thing in the movie. Birusu wanted pudding, Buu licks em all despite knowing they live far, and Birusu got angry at Buu's logic since he's strong it's his. Birusu put him in check and the Z-Fighters come at him again. His portrayal is different but he still the easy to annoy God of Destruction to me. King Vegeta shouldn't be stingy with obscuring what a person, capable of ending you and your planet, wants. He got what he deserved tbh. |

Krillin, Roshi and Chi Chi were always treated like that in Z. Goku was unique till the Cell Arc, but , then he also fell into that category from Buu Arc onwards. Now,I Believe, Buu is also falling into that Category. I guess I would go with Beerus because he is completely different than he was in BOG. |

But he isn't the same. He's generic now, another generic villain literally no different than the likes of Freeza or something. You could literally replace Super Beerus with the likes of Freeza and there would hardly be a single change to it. That's exactly what Beerus has become, an egotistical, pure villain Freeza rip off. Yeah it makes him a villain when the anime is obviously playing the entire scenes out as Beerus being cruel and demented. Movie Beerus wasn't a villain. He was an anti-villain and that's what separated him from the rest. The closest thing we'd ever gotten to something like this was Fat Boo. Every other villain was some egotistical psychopath, with absolutely little to no honor or pride to them. Would just beat down on everyone without provocation, would essentially always have some kind of power up and it would always lead to the same thing. Their personality was always the same, literally always the same and if they didn't have the same personality, it was because they didn't have a personality beyond being mindless to begin with. This was why Beerus was so different. You had a antagonist with a real personlity that went beyond "Beating the crap out of everyone cause laughs" He's no longer Beerus. He's Egyptian Freeza. |

The scenes I pointed out aren't him being represented as a villain. He just get provoked and rubbed the wrong way. If some licks over food you never but wanted to try, and if most if it was gone; you wouldn't throw be even a little mad? Knowing you live stupid far? |

Not really. I mean, Bulma is super rich and it would take maybe an hour at most to make some new ones. The pudding incident isn't the really villainous part about him either. It's the fact that he takes such obvious joy in hurting people and dropping one liners that sound like he's being a Bond villain. |
