Freeza's soldiers respected him. He kills them without a second thought. Hell in RoF he kills the people who went out of their way to revive him. Vegeta killed Nappa without a second thought when Nappa did nothing but be loyal to Vegeta. That's why they're villains. |

Well, the fact that he's spoiled, sadistic and utterly ridiculous in Super leads me to that conclusion. Regarding Vegeta, why didn't he just put on a serious face and threaten to blow up the planet next time he kept the best pillow away from him? He didn't have to do what he did; it was completely unnecessary, petty and pointless. |

Exactly. Vegeta kills Nappa who's supposed to be a fellow saiyan. Everyone likes him. Frieza kills his soldiers without a second thought. Everyone likes him. Beerus throws some tantrums and he's suddenly hated. Why? Edited by Notaka, Aug 16 2015, 07:28 PM.

Like really, the biggest problem is that our heroes are gonna learn from that arse. He's not polite, he's not friendly, he's just menacing, he's a ticking time bomb. The only thing that's improved him even slightly is that buu punched him a few times before he let loose. More menacing? Sure, but I cannot see how this person is anything but a villain that needs to be put down. He's better as a villain, but I cannot see him bring anything but evil. Heck I'm pretty sure this Beerus will destroy the planet if he has trouble with Goku rather than fight fair, that's the standard of morality he's set so far. They made him more menacing but forgot to make him likable in the process. |

Vegeta was humiliated and changed his ways, albeit slowly. Freeza isn't meant up be a mentor, he's a villain. Beerua is gonna be a wise yet quickly Master that we learn from. And he's acting like Freeza and Buu combined. |

By the time they are gonna learn from him he either going to be a good guy or most likely a Neutral one.Goku and Vegeta will affect him. Take Piccolo for example. He was evil, yet Gohan affected him and he became one of best Z-Fighters. Vegeta was psychotic, he destroys his own kind. He became one of the most liked characters and a Good guy overall. Buu used to turn people into candy. Hercule showed him the way and he became good(spoiled though). Why would Beerus be any different ?
Still, Beerus wouldn't go destroy one of his own kind for no reason. Frieza is more evil than Beerus. Like I said, Beerus will surely be a better person after this Saga. Edited by Notaka, Aug 16 2015, 07:35 PM.

He's not supposed to the be the villain though. If they want to make him a villain, go all out. But Beers is still stuck in the role of being semi comic relief and be a respectable rival for Goku at some point. Here, he just acts like a straight up villain and his similarities to BOG Beers are almost entirely physical. He's not being played up to be this big villain, that's the problem |

Honestly, I think it'd even be a problem if they went down that route again. Tenshinhan Piccolo Vegeta Boo Another 'redemption' process would just be ridiculous. Naruto gets criticised all the time for Talk-no-Jutsu and converting villains, but if it happens in Super again, it'd be on the same level. |

Well it's Whis they ask to train them. Whis himself is a 100% neutral character. His job is to serve Beerus, and thus whatever Beerus wants him to do, he'll do. He doesn't do anything by himself in terms of good or evil. From what we see in RoF, he seems to genuinely care about Goku and Vegeta's growth as fighters. Besides, everyone complains about Goku being too one dimensional, so I think it's nice to have him come to terms with the fact that to get stronger (which is his never-ending goal) he has to train with someone who isn't exactly a hero. It adds something to Goku's character, I guess. Vegeta I can't see being bothered by Whis at all. As for Beerus, we're really not seeing much new here. He still lets Goku live. He still destroyed Kaio's planet in the past in BoG. Sure we get some new scenes of him actually doing the whole "Destruction" part of "Beerus the destroyer", but think about it from a story-telling perspective. In BoG we didn't have time to watch Beerus go around destroying planets. He goes to 1 planet, Earth, and we can't have him destroy Earth and kill everyone. In both BoG and RoF he threatens to destroy the planet if the food isn't perfect.
Because leniency isn't a very big thing when it comes to villains. |

But everyone is treating Beerus with respect, it's Beerus who is being the d***. Beerus has lost his honor and pride and even a huge drop in his carefree attitude that was notable in Battle of Gods. Right now, Beerus is nothing more than a typical villain that we have seen every single time. Sure he might have a little bit more personality than some but its the same thing. Someone said it already, he's Freeza right now. Just compare the two. Both were overly powerful beings that did whatever the heck they wanted, could be polite and stuff when things went their way but the moment anything ticked them off, boom...there went the planet. You can easily compare and contrast Super Beerus with BOG Beerus. In the movie, as I've said, the things that brought Beerus into a darker light is often passed over casually. Look at his interaction with King Vegeta. It's a d*** move on his part in the movie, but its treated much more casual there and he doesn't seem to go around breaking his head like he does in Super. Likewise his interaction with Vegeta is much more subtle. Compare that to Super where he's all but pulled down his pants, shoved Vegeta's face into his crotch and said "Suck it princess." In the movie, Beerus chillin out maxin, relaxin all cool and doing some breakdancin' outside of the school. He's being a good person, maybe a bit impatient cause he wants Super Saiyan God but he's clearly being a good sport. Then stupid drunk Gohan gets him shot and Boo's being his idiotic fat self. Beerus is being quite polite at this point, just asking for one little pudding Boo's slobbering over it and devouring it like the fat pig he is. Super Beerus is actively being malicious and losing what made him such a unique character in the movie. Movie Beerus was never this malicious even at his worst and most of the times when he was attacking someone, its because they like Good Boo, started it. Edited by EMIYA, Aug 16 2015, 07:44 PM.

I just got around to watching this episode, and I have to say it's pretty decent. Seems Vegeta in particular is getting a lot of development here like with the flashback with Beerus (it shows he really does care for his people subsciously) but it's a shame being TOEI they're making Krillin the plucky comic relief like in the old movies. You can one-note Chi-Chi and Muten Roshi all you want but leave Krillin alone! T_T The animation's still pretty bad but it's definitely a step up from the mock-worthy animation from the last episode. But I like how they made Beerus more antagonistic during his confrontation with Majin Boo but he went overboard. I mean, I wanted Majin Boo to get his pink raggedy-ass kicked all over the place but I didn't want him to die (almost). |

It's too early to judge that. Vegeta was also an a**hole, yet he became one of the good guys.Same applies to Piccolo. He isn't like the typical villain. He destroys when he feels like it. You can't come up to the god of DESTRUCTION and expect him to be friendly. Frieza doesn't torture for a pillow. Beerus in Super feels more like a God of Destruction than in BoG. In BoG it's like aside from his power, you couldn't tell if he was truly a god of destruction. He was also chill in super. He's just more likely to be angry in Super than in BoG. |

What did we think about this episode? I didn't notice any horrible animation like the last episode. I thought it was both entertaining and advanced the plot. Vegeta cooking was funny. It was a good episode. And possibly evidence that Vegeta should be the star or at least get a spin off. He's a much better character than Goku. |

As far as the party goes, very little made Beerus angry. It was just Boo (Who was even worse here than in the movie) and Trunks accidentally shooting him with a water gun, which is Super's version of when he was accidentally shot by a bullet deflected by Gohan. I'd say the latter is actually worse. Beerus is so strong that a bullet just made him itchy, but no amount of power will help the horrible feeling you get from being soaked, especially if you have fur like Beerus. He was even downright friendly to Bulma. |
