Question about Pedophiles

No... because then people won't be seeking help. If they do, they'll have to ruin their social lives—probably their entire lives—for doing an admirable thing. So, they won't. They'll keep it to themselves, and some will live normally, and others who actually needed help may go on to abuse someone, when it could have been avoided, because getting that help meant ruining their lives.

Even if they get to remain anonymous so long as they're seeing someone, but they stop for genuine reasons yet the person they were confiding in feels the need to suddenly spread the news that they're not to be trusted because they've lapsed on their program. People will just not sign up for the help.

You can't punish people or ruin their lives when they haven't done something wrong, and there is no guarantee they will. Apparently a good portion of child abusers aren't even paedophiles - they've done it for other reasons, like anger or pent up frustration.

Should all people with a rape fantasy be outed?

paedophelia is just being attracted to children in some way.

it#s like what queen said: "It is extremely important not to confuse pedophilia with child molestation. People can't separate because they're taught to."

regarding steve's question: no. everyone has the capacity to commit some sort of crime, but it doesn't mean that everyone is going to go kill/steal/rape, and so on.
i think krystal mentioned something about their being an online community for paedophiles who know they're sexually attracted to children but don't want to act upon it and have help groups and stuff. i found that p interesting

Out of curiosity, how would you identify a paedophile if they haven't committed a crime yet? The only way you'd be able to tell is if they either get themselves help or they commit a crime. If the former is true, why would you socially murder them? If the latter is true, we already have a system for that, iirc.
Well, in a world when they can freely open up about it to doctors and such I mean.

Do we even identify pedophiles until they've committed a crime? Personally I don't care what type of weird things you like to do with consenting adults. Rape fantasies, adult babies and what have you. A fetish is a fetish, if its behind closed doors with your loving or at least consenting adult human partner(s) then that's your thing. That doesn't hurt anyone. I'm all for that. Actually going out and traumatizing someone is the problem. A fantasy and a crime are completely different things. A fantasy is fun, planned and done consensually, crimes are committed. Period.

I'm a little jilted on this, being a new father and all, but I honestly think if your M.O. Is having sex with helpless children, then whatever you get is too good for you.

I wasn't really talking about the offenders, though.

I think having the fantasy is sketchy enough to be honest.

Like all this lolicon porn on the internet, it's not anywhere close to being as bad as actual child porn for sure but damn is it sketchy. Gives paedophiles or potential ones something to indulge in and there are only a handful of ways someone gets brought to actually committing the crime.

Bottling it up and reaching breaking point.
Indulging in some way shape or form and eventually taking it further, the fantasy stops being enough.
Having no restraints at all.

I don't think people with a destructive fantasy such as this should be left to their own devices, if people can indulge in a fantasy they will. Rubbing crap on each other? Can't say I'd EVER consider it but certainly there are people to do such a thing with. Bondage? Public sex?
All fine since you have a consenting adult to do it with even if that's only yourself.

When your fantasy involves children who will NEVER legally consent, that's a problem. The need to indulge will always be there and there will always be a risk around kids.
This is why I don't object to internet traffic being monitored, so long as any information isn't acted upon without great reason.
If someone has been trying to look at child porn or other sketchy stuff featuring child-like individuals they should be contacted and asked to seek help.

In Japan many argue that allowing anime/manga with such content gives people with such urges an outlet so they won't attempt to fulfill it in real life. I'm not sure if there are any stats to back up the claim, and wouldn't even know where to start searching since most data would be in Japanese anyway.

Being a pedophile is unfortunate but it doesn't make them a bad person like most of society tries to make it seem. Unless whatever happens in their brain to make them attraction to children also affects their choices to commit rape, I don't think a pedophile is at any higher risk of child molestation than anyone else is of raping the gender they're attracted to.

As for animated porn I don't see the problem. It's a cartoon, no ones getting harmed, and technically speaking drawings can be as old or young as the artist wants them to be. Heck even in regular cartoons, characters often look and act much older or younger than they are.

The opposition for those kind of animated porn is similar to the opposition against allowing homosexuals to have adopted children.

-If you allow a homosexual to have an adopted child
follows: the adopted child will end up gay as well

-If you allow a pedophile to have animated child porn
follows: the pedophile will pursue real children

Both are logical fallacies created by people who have no clue. An attempt to control.

Sketchy enough for what? To see them locked away, I presume? Some people fantasize about murder, or theft, or being revolutionary. Are all of those people criminals, too?

Isn't that a preferable indulgence? Non-existing characters?

Having no restraints at all.
Never having an outlet and reaching breaking point.
Never indulging in their fantasy at all, and eventually acting it out for real.
Having simulated porn, and understanding it can never be taken further than that.

What I laid out is no guarantee that it ends there, but there is a lot of people who believe that the rise of porn has seen a decrease in rape. If someone gets the urge, they're more likely to wait until they get home and save ruining their entire lives, and the victims - even if unintentionally. That goes for anyone with a destructive sexual interest. Some people don't need porn to cope; some people will content themselves with it; for others it isn't enough. Why make 2/3 people a genuine danger, when it could very possibly be reduced to 1/3?

Imagine that if you ever had sex again, you were guaranteed to contract a life threatening, incurable disease. Could you muster the will power to avoid it for the rest of your life? Many people could, and many people will - even if you can not. Even if it weren't you who was going to die, but you were guaranteed to be destroying other people's lives - could you abstain? Many people can, and many people will.

Homosexuals have gone their entire lives having never been with someone of their own sex. The brilliant Kenneth Williams, as a famous example. It may not be ideal—or even necessary, for homosexuals—but it can be done. What you're suggesting is that they're all ticking time bombs, so we must out them all in the name of saving the children. Well, yes, think of the children. If the internet is not a safe place for them to look at cartoons and/or talk to like minded people about coping, you're very likely to make a portion of those people who would have been content, a frustrated enemy.

If they're going to be hunted down and their lives ruined—people tormenting and/or beating them—but they've never even acted out their fantasy, is it not reasonable that they might start thinking about committing it anyway? If they're going to be punished, and everyone is going to demonise them anyway, mightn't they have what they've always, so far successfully, avoided?

I'll get to your post about Cecil when I can be bothered. If, I can be bothered.

this reminds me of the old do videogames cause people to become more violent argument, lol. maybe it's a false analogy idk. i'll go ahead and reword your post to make it apply to vidya

Keyboard Warriors, Everywhere.

(Not reading the rest of the topic because im in a rush)

In response too the OP:

I actually think this is an interesting topic, also I never knew what chemical castration actually was until seeing that article, I always imagined it being alot more... horrific :P I have always actually been of the frame of mind, and the same goes for most crimes some criminals that some pedophiles would love what they do, while some hate them selves for it.

http://www.stopitnow.org.uk/concerned_about_your_behaviour.htm

Above is a website set up in the UK and Ireland that addresses people with inappropriate thoughts and feelings towards kids who can get help via a anonymous helpline and even go too special counselling over it. There are many accounts there of people who really don't understand why they have the thoughts, don't want too have them, some cry over the phone because they hate themselves so much over it and many have attempted suicide because of it. This in a way proves not all of them are equal.

For example, (very generalized) there can be a murderer who killed in cold blood, sits there in the court smiling / laughing, has no remorse. Or there can be a murderer who found his wife cheating with another man after years of being married, in a haze of fury / emotion at seeing that happen with the woman he loved, he kills the man accidently by hitting him over the head. Are both criminals equal in these murders? No. One wanted to do it, the other did it because of the circumstance.

The one main culprit really is internet pornography in general and addiction too it. Without beating around the bush here, every time a guy jacks off (could be the same for women too im not sure) too lets say, softcore pornography, his brain gets flooded with dopamine and that feeling gets hardwired into the brain as well as what caused it, making him want too go back too it in the future. A month later (or sooner) the brain will stop having any dopamine from this type of porn because its the same thing over and over, so what does he do? Look for more intense / hardcore / even illegal types just too satisfy that craving. Eventually this can lead down the slippery slope of looking at material that is illegal, not because hes been a pedophile all his life, but his brain wants / needs that extra kick of dopamine and it will scramble too get it at any means. Eventually again his brain gets twisted into thinking this is acceptable and thats when laws start getting broken of course.

Now on the other hand there are real sick f***ers out there who do all sorts of horrific things too children, and have been that way since they are young, they very fully enjoy it, will record it, will show no remorse over it, will continue too offend most of their if not all their lives. These are the people who should be 'chemically' castrated / sent too jail. The people who are ashamed of it, hate themselves for it, want help, should have the opportunity too first seek help and NOT be afraid of getting punished / slandered for it or be an outcast.

Keyboard Warrior

1. A Person who, being unable to express his anger through physical violence (owning to their physical weakness, lack of bravery and/or conviction in real life), instead manifests said emotions through the text-based medium of the internet, usually in the form of aggressive writing that the Keyboard Warrior would not (for reasons previously mentioned) be able to give form to in real life.

2. Keyboard Warriors are generally identified by unneccessary rage in their written communications, and are regarded as 'losers' by other virtual identities on the internet.

Some of them might really not be able to help the thought since it is a mental illness, are we in the right to look down on those people or the illness, even if they haven't done anything wrong yet?
If being a pedo is a mental illness then so is being gay/bi/pansexual/asexual/nonsexual/brony etc.

Be careful about throwing the mental illness card around.

You need to be careful about listing bronies along with sexualities.
Also I believe asexuality and nonsexuality are the same thing. (If nonsexuality is even a word)
