Action refers to the scenes in which action are taking place, fighting and such. How satisfying you find it and why. This also refers to overall action, not simply a few high light battles. Super is excluded because it's a bit soon, that may change, but I think this will be a bit far off the front page by then. I felt Dragonball action was more in your face and had more energy. And the scenes in the air had allot more adrenaline to them than the others. The older action scenes also usually were usually funny as well. Finally when someone did an energy attack like the kamehameha wave, it felt special, rather than a "fist laser". Edited by Tinny, Jul 28 2015, 10:45 PM.

I'd choose the "screw you" option for you putting Evolution there. I've seen better action on the Daredevil movie. Even MAN OF STEEL had better DBZ-esque action scenes than the actual movie adaptation. You couldn't get more wrong with both movies. But Z is easily the most action-packed. It made Z less "Dragon Ball" than DB though, if you can get that. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

I mostly put it there as a joke, and in the event someone actually does think it has the best action I'm very curious to see what their reasoning is. It does have more action, but do you think it has the better action on average? Well I suppose otherwise you wouldn't have voted it.

Definitely DB. Ki attacks were pretty rare for most of the big fights and the focus on Hand-to-hand that was actually visible was really nice. We saw characters be creative in the way that they fought, especially in the World Tournament, but that's fallen to the side in favour of stronger attacks in Z. |

Sorry I worded that as if they're objectively better. I usually just prefer the epic and harder hitting battles |

DBZ definitely. You can really feel the power and speed in those fights. Dragon Ball fights were...strange. Jackie Chun using the sleep move on Goku, Krillin turning himself into a balloon, the entire 0.2 second thing Krillin and Roshi's match. And those are just silly parts in otherwise mostly serious fights. For non budokai fights we get stuff like Goku vs Murasaki, which is less of a fight and more a game of cat and mouse. And while people give DBZ crap for being too heavily reliant on Ki blasts, Dragon Ball had the most Ki blast spamming match in the whole Manga (Krillin vs Chaozu). I also find DBZ fights to be better paced. Sure they were full of cut aways to people reacting and stuff, but the fights themselves were fast. In Dragon Ball, Ki moves were a big thing and we'd get a big song and dance about every move. In DBZ Ki moves were common so they just blended in with the rest of the fighting. Dragon Ball also had a heavy reliance on reused animations from what I remember. Like in this vid: It replays the same clips over and over. There's probably like 30 seconds of original footage in that 2 minute clip. |

If we're talking anime it would be DB kai. A lot faster paced fights than in Z |

More like what time period had the best fights, so I guess Kai would take the place of the old z anime. Manga also works if you prefer the comics to the animation. Edited by Tinny, Aug 1 2015, 03:34 AM.

Dragonball: Heavily martial arts-related, with a lot of martial arts action. It was special to see ki attacks along with famous martial art techniques. Those had the crowds cheering all throughout the WT series. DBZ: Stepped up the action, but the earlier arcs, even the Android-Cell arc the fighters fought somewhat creative still. GT had a lot of action, in which it seemed they were trying to please us. First arc - there was battles between the powerful Z Fighters themselves, two Oozaru smashing through everything, fights even shifted from planted to planet. Second arc - Super 17 gave you a ton of filler action: Z Fighters fighting together, all transforming into their strongest forms, Super 17 threw every suped-up mechanical attack in the book, Goku fought with a lot of creativeness against Super 17. Third arc - The Shadow Dragons gave plenty of action in each element. The fighting was boring, but you got to see a lot of unique cool attacks and techniques. Early-Middle GT >= DB > Early Z, I guess. Edited by Professor Gohan, Aug 1 2015, 02:15 PM.
