He's got a point. I can't name any new titles that have really taken advantage of PC hardware. All you really get is higher resolutions and framerates. Ever since Watch Dogs.
I love building PCs. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I can help you with almost any kind of PC you'd want to build.

If you like console better than PC, good for you. I like consoles aswell for the simplicity and exclusivity, but a personal computer will always be better because you can modify it to a much larger extend.

Sure, you could have more trouble with hardware on a PC, but there's always a solution.

Consoles are better on certain things, but a computer is better at almost all things.

Personally, I can see why PC can be better than consoles. The better hardware and graphics and frame rates are appealing. Coincidentally I just (Finally) got Steam today, and I've been having a good experience playing TF2 so far. I could see myself getting more into PC, but I'd never switch over to just PC and give up consoles, mainly for one reason:

Exclusives

I am personally a Nintendo fanboy, and could never give up Nintendo's consoles for just PC, because I wouldn't be able to play any of their great exclusives.

That and of course accessibility, and the price of getting a PC compared to a console.

Now I know that when most people talk about consoles nowadays they are talking about PS4 or Xbox One, but for me personally it's the Wii U. And I'm sure owners of the PS4 and Xbone could relate to this love of exclusives for their consoles.

Also, even games that aren't exclusives sometimes seem like ones, since in some cases (GTA V) the PC version of a game comes out awhile after they do on console. I wouldn't want to wait months after release to get a game that I could get on release.

That's all I have to say, but overall I'm pretty neutral on this argument.

With Multi platforms yes, I'll give him that...but then again this is why I didn't bring up PC exclusive developers, I didn't think it would be a fair comparison.

So, you're saying all developers don't take advantage of PC hardware based on a few developers...
besides WoW, Diablo type of games, how many studios are taking advantage of the pc?

on multiplatforms Bethesda Softworks works hard to keep their games the same quality.

Crytek did at once with crysis 1 until they they started to get in the console market with Crysis 2 and 3 and with Ryse: Son of Rome and screwed the pc fan base.

Let me make this clear, i'm not just talking about better graphics or smoother FPS, obviously the pc should dominate in that department (if the studios actually cares unlike warner bros off shoring their pc port to another company). I'm talking about developers using the pc full advantage like how how developers would devlop for xbox one if they use kinect and whatever xbox one had to offer.

Bethesda Softworks, Crytek, Bioware, Square Enx and Bungie try to keep their games even besides obviously the pc has better graphics. And Ubisoft actually go out of their way to screw the PC fans.

I made a handy little comparison chart for console GPUs vs PC GPUs. If there's anyone out there who denies the PS4's superiority over the Xbox One, this should put that to rest. It also shows how much architectural design can impact performance. The bvottom two GPUs appear to be almost the same thing, but the benchmark I included shows something considerably different. This doesn't apply to PS4 vs Xbox One, though. Those are the more-or-less the same architecture.

Xbox One = R7 260 @ equal clocks. The desktop version would win normally due to its higher clocks and higher memory bandwidth.
R7 260X < R7 265 < PS4 < R9 270

Yeah, there shouldn't be any question at this point, but with Xbox pretty much dropping the Knect it's helping the Console with extra space.

This could change if Microsoft does indeed buy out AMD, Microsoft would probably end up making a more powerful Console next generation after knowing what Sony is going to do... at least that's what I would do.

That's what Nintendo should've done with the Wii-U, they should've waited until Sony and Microsoft announced their Consoles, then started working on theirs and released the specs closer to their release date...it would've made Sony and Microsoft sweat a bit until it's release. Of course with what we know now about the Wii-U it wouldn't have made any difference, but that's just how I see it.

That seems to be the case...someone from Microsoft leaked that bit of information, but you know Microsoft, they won't announce anything until either they change their minds or seal the deal. I still consider it a rumor right now, but it's something that shouldn't be ignored and even credible sites are running with it too.

If they do buy them out, they'll have a huge advantage over everyone else.

What are your thoughts on this?

If microsoft buys AMD, i can see them investing more into the windows side of gaming now. Giving third party develoeprs more money for time exclusives and maybe utilize more of the pc and xbox one. Like certain features that only Xbox or pc versions have over the PS4.

Also, I can see nvidia maybe making a deal with Sony.

Why not if their competition makes a deal with the big one. It would only make sense to me.

Do you like the idea of this happening, or does it worry you?

In your other thread about the future of gaming.... I think VR and those type of games are the future.

As soons as nearly eevrybody in a developed country can get fibre optics download speed, i think most games will be distributed digitally.

To answer your question, it kind worries me, since AMD architecture is different compared to nvidia games, I can see microsoft pouring their resources like crazy.

Well, they were behind Intel rising back to the top like they did...remember when AMD were beating Intel and Intel came back stronger than ever? Microsoft helped them and then the quality of AMD dropped, so it was a win/win for Intel and Microsoft. This tells me that either Microsoft see's no more use for Intel, or they just want their hands in the hardware market and Intel and Nvidia just wouldn't sell.

At some point I see Virtual Reality taking over, but not in the next 20 years...maybe even 40, people love their custom built gaming rigs way too much. I do agree with the digital thing, everyone is trying to do that now, heck look at Steam.

Before that happens, most people have to have a good internet plan (speed and data allowed).

GTA 5 on PC takes almost 60GB. Can you imagine trying to downlaod that if you can only download 1 or 2MBps?
