The Size of the Giants

The Lord of the Dark

This is a random idea that popped in my head a while ago, about the size of some enormous characters that appear throughout the series. How big some of these would in truth be, if we actually gave them some proper realistic weights and heights? It's your option to do this below this post.

We have a ton of giant characters (that aren't wild animals like giant piranhas or dinosaurs, including most Oozaru), the first one I believe would be the Bear Thief who wasn't that much big from the average Grizzly.

Then we encounter other large characters, such as the Robot Pirate, who is more or less just as big as the Bear Thief, even if he's not as bulky, he's still made out of metal.

Posted Image

And we also have Giran, mostly because of how obese he is. How many tons is that belly carrying?

The first good example of a huge character in DB is King Piccolo, who drastically changes size several times in the manga. But DAMN is he big the first time we have a good look at him. He is pretty skinny, but really tall, my guess is that he grows the older he gets?

Posted Image

Then there's Piccolo Jr, turning into a giant for a change. A huge humongous Kaiju-sized Piccolo, you usually don't see that. He's clearly over 100ft here. Who knows how many tons he weighs.

Posted Image

Then we have, as we end with DB, Oozaru Vegeta. Surprisingly, not even close to 100ft tall. In fact his size changes in some panels.

Posted Image

As a counterpart for Vegeta we have in the DB movie side, Dr Wheelo, another giant. While not as big as the previous Oozaru, he's still over 5 times taller than Goku.

Posted Image

Then there's Slug, also from the movies, who compared to Giant Piccolo looks pathetic in size.

Posted Image

Later we have Yakon, who even though is not that big, still is pretty tall.

Posted Image

And as we end with DBZ we have Hirudegarn, the Godzilla of the DBZ franchise, easily the biggest character but also the most inconsistent on that matter, and no, I'm not talking about the fact that he stomps Gohan and gets beaten by Goku, but just look at this.

We can see him towering over buildings many times. But then a few times when he's fighting some of the Z Warriors he suddenly becomes Oozaru-sized. Well, at least we know that at his best he's like +300ft tall.

Question is, how big do you think some of these characters are?

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Eh, I wouldn't have most being all that heavy.

Especially ones like Giran, he may be fat but he can still fly with those tiny wings without having to move them at light speed to get off the ground :p

Piccolo and by extension Lord Slug didn't seem all that heavy by how easily Piccolo was tossed around, not to mention how little he damaged the ground.

Are the buildings in DBZ really that big? I don't remember seeing anything that looked close to 300ft tall really, like 150 maybe?
Whenever someone was drawn with their back to a building they'd be around the same size as one of those window sections so the buildings can't be that huge.

Also shouldn't Shenron or Porunga be the biggest :p Porunga is bigger I think.
There's also the case of Shenron being rather small when he gets summoned, when King Piccolo kills him I think.

Hirudegarn is an odd one hard to make any sense of his body, he could be proportionately heavy...or really light since he turns in to smoke.
Like maybe he is just smoke and gives form to his body with his energy.

The problem with judging the size is that it changes in every single cut. Even the smaller ones like Giran suffer from this.

That being said, the largest characters title still belongs to Ultimate Shenron due to having a head bigger than the Lookout. If he doesn't count, then Rage Shenron grew to encompass a city in his blobbiness
