My Dear Melancholy,

Freeza is the name used in English subbed. Frieza is used in the English dub. Which one do you prefer? Or is there others you prefer? I like Frieza better because it looks so much more cooler  and sounds more Alien :ssss: .

Freeza is technically the proper translation. Frieza exists because Funimation has the weird obsession with putting an I in a person's name. I'm honestly quite dumbfounded that Vegeta isn't spelled Vegita  .

Freeza > Freezer > Frieza, thought I'd never say it.

It's really awesome to have "Freeza."

I hate "Frieza." That's not the proper spelling of his name. It'd be like if someone spelled my name "Jasen" or "Jayson." It would annoy the hell out of me.

It's "Freeza." Feel free to use other spellings, but ya know. I'd rather see "Freezer" than "Frieza." Something about that spelling makes me angry.

Agreed with Pyrus. I detest "Frieza". Something about it is so ugly.

It almost looks like a jumbled mess of letters with the I in there when I see it now. I've been using Freeza for so long I forgot about that spelling of it.

I wanna puke when I see it spelled like that

I prefer Freeza aswell, but I don't deny I have ever used Frieza, becuase I did early on. I used Frieza because that's what the games and the anime used, it being Funimation produced. My norwegian translated manga uses 'Freezer', but I got Freeza from this forum.

Definitely "Freeza," all day, e'ry day.

The pun is on the English word "freezer." The 'i' in there makes no sense, damnit! I think that's why it annoys me even though it's so minor — there's no freakin' reason for it.

I really would like to know the thought process behind replacing the first "e" with an "i." It's so unnecessary.

In Germany it's "Freezer" so I used to use it most of the time but since I also read and watch Dragonball in English I skip between "Freezer" and "Freeza" though I like "Freezer" better

I don't really think it matters. It's still the same name and pronounced the exact same. It's not like Viz who flat-out changes names.

I do think "Frieza" looks a bit cooler I guess, since spelling-wise, it's much more different than "freezer", and naming the most iconic, ruthless and brutal villain in DBZ after a household cooling appliance kinda makes him lose some of his dignity. That said, I use Freeza myself, just because I picked up the habit reading the manga.

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

I've always seen it spelled Frieza in the Funimation anime and games, so naturally, that's what I've come to prefer despite its flaws.

If I had initially saw both spellings, I probably would have preferred Freeza, but I reckon it might be too late now, too much time/nostalgia.

Also, I think this TFS video belongs in this thread. :D

I'm used to the Spanish and Catalan dubs and translations calling him Freezer or Frizer, but I'd rather have Freeza over Frieza because at least you can see where the name come from, just like anyone can see where "Kakarot" came from. Frieza doesn't sound any difference and it doesn't make the name look cooler at all. It just doesn't make sense.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.
