Really he knows he's not nearly as powerful as people in his universe think. He knows there are plenty stronger than him. Like Whis as an example. is it still air to say he is still the second most powerful character (in universe 7) after Whis, as far as we know so far Nothing has come up to challenge that claim yet.

But yeah, I know Word of God > Feats > Statements, and Word of God is that Whis is (apparently) stronger than Beerus. But can we get a decent action scene in the action show? Please!?!

It's the anime, they had Krillin hurting Goku with a rock because he wasn't expecting it, so knocking Beerus out =/= being stronger

It'd be harebrained to go against that simply because we haven't seen the two go all-out against each other or have a direct statement in the movies that Whis is stronger. It doesn't hurt that we saw Whis easily handling both Goku and Vegeta in RoF, whilst it was stated that the two could probably take out Beerus if they worked together. BoG and FnF are part of the main timeline and Dragonball Super is a retelling of those movies. AT said GT was a nice "side story" so it's not canon. Same with movies. Whis is canonically the strongest character, while SSJ4 Gogeta is the strongest non-canon character. Yep, the best answer I've seen. It's twice now, that A. Toriyama has said Toei's movies and GT is a side story. The manga by default is canon. Whis is the strongest DBZ (so far, mayb female Whiss or Champa). SSj4 Gogeta is the strongest non-canon.

If you think only the original manga is canon, then Super Vegetto is the strongest canon character. If you think Dragon Ball Super is canon, then Whis is the strongest canon character. If you think Dragon Ball GT is canon, then SSJ4 Gogeta is the strongest canon character.
