My Dear Melancholy,

Hey guys! How are you? I don't usually bash dubs as I understand the struggle and dedication to dubbing. It's a tough work translating Japanese. However this is something I picked up on recently. Funimation weird mispronounced words. Specifically Kamehameha wave and Kaioken. Watching Goku instant kamehameha(It was so cool!) and piccolo said "Ka MAY AH MAY AH Wave". Not Ka Me HA Me HA. Why was that? Any other time it was said correctly. A slip up by accident?

Kaioken. What happened there? Didn't they have JPN footage? How was it exactly.. said completely wrong? :errm:

Hope I'm not coming off as nitpicky but it's kinda weird.

Inexperienced voice actors and directors. It was Funimation's first property, naturally it's a bit rough around the edges. Its tendency to sort of parrot the Ocean dub at times might also be a factor.
I love building PCs. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I can help you with almost any kind of PC you'd want to build.

Hawaiians actually say "Kuh-may-huh-may-huh" when speaking of Hawaiians named Kamehameha. The Japanese pronounce it as "Kah-meh-ha-meh-ha" to get the "turtle destruction wave" pun from their language, so Funimation can't be entirely faulted for their more "Hawaiian-ized" pronunciation, since Hawaii is a U.S. state.
