It truly was a Shawshank redemption

So I just saw that this is the free game for XBOX Gold this month. I haven't played any of the other Assassin's Creed games, outside of a little bit of the first one, and was just wondering if anyone who's played this game could tell me if I'd be completely lost storyline-wise if I played IV without any prior knowledge?

...

I think this is one of the best assassins creed game so far... In a way it is better than AC II which is a good point.

Basically Open world pirate game, whilst you still have to do the stuff prior. I personally havent finished it yet, because I fear it might spoil me from Black sails tv series. I mean I actually recognised two of the main characters of the series in the game

But I guess every game related to each other in a way...... however you can easily start with the memory of Edward Kenway, as the man in Ac III and prior was another subject of the project anibus, still as I mentioned above the overall (modern age) plot throughout the series connects, that is far for sure.

Leve Feyenoord 1!

The main modern storylife is gonna be hard to grasp since you don't get the entire Assassin-Templar war going on.
However, Black Flag is still a fun and enjoyable pirate game. It's my favorite AC after AC Rogue.
If it's free I guess there's no harm in getting it.
If you decide to get it feel free to ask me any questions in this thread or through PM and I'll provide you with answers. We all have to start somewhere in the franchise. I myself started with AC III and picked up the story slowly.

You're not gonna get the assassin vs Templar stuff at all probably, but that's okay because the focus is on pirates.
It's a pretty fun game, and I like the multiplayer in it, cat and mouse is a riveting game.
