I like the options of higher difficulties, it would eliminate spamming all together that way. They should bring back beam struggles too, it has that classic Dragon Ball feel to it and is just fun all the way around. This is where the multiple game modes would come into play here (see what I did there), because if you're playing in let's just call it "Realistic Mode" and you're entering a beam struggle and you character is in SS4 or even SSG power wise, but you're facing a character who's only around SS2 or even SS3 in power...there isn't going to be any beam struggle, as soon as your beam hits theirs it's going to bust through it and give them the biggest "Oh Crap!" moment of their lives. However, if you're playing in "Competitive Mode" there would be a beam struggle because the game would now be more balanced and it wouldn't a completely one-sided beat down. I feel the "Role Playing Mode" should be somewhere in the middle of the previous two modes, so you have the competitiveness but the power gaps as well. @tin man: I love that idea. Say you wanted to a combo that started with punches and kicks but then randomly switched to using Ki blasts, or the other way around and you wanted to end it with a big Ki blast, that option should be there. Also, could you imagine if this feature was also available for Super and Ultimate attacks too...it would be really cool to have an Instantaneous Movement Galick Gun, or a Special Beam Cannon...or with mastering it, you could even do that with the Hellzone Grenade. |

It would be pretty funny, and could you imagine fan's reactions the first time they try this...you know there would be several reaction videos, talk about flipping out. You should also have the option the Transforming before a beam struggle or power up, if you have enough time...especially we see it happen so many times in the Manga/Anime. |

Especially if you fight against the CPU, it should either be that the CPU is in slo-mo or you are just really fast. Faster than they can re-act. Or give them free teleportation or just make them that fast that it looks like teleportation.

I like the idea of making the superior fighter faster, but with the option of teleportation by slowing everything down. This is where Super Saiyan Grade 2 and 3 would actually be useful, because I think they're great for beam struggles, but horrible for hand to hand combat. I would still allow the player the option to use these, with all their drawbacks too lol (Man I'm a jerk). However, I would also just like in DBZ the ability to Master Super Saiyan to the extent Kakarrot and Vegeta had in the Boo arc. |

I was thinking, if you put beam struggles in, how would you do it? I think we can do better than like, mashing the button personally. I personally was thinking Injustice had a good system, basically you put in a certain amount of energy, and whoever has the most wins. With the exception of transforming during those, like kaioken, those you probably win by default because of the sudden burst in energy output. This system would definitely favour being more cautious with using special moves as it would you potentially vulnerable to a beam struggle. At the least the competitive mode should have something like this. |

For the slo-mo idea, I just mean they are so slow they can't even re-act or move to you coming to them. You know like how they do it in the 2nd Cooler movie, where they show a short slo-mo sequence of Cooler vs Vegeta & Goku. Like maybe the player himself can re-act, but it forever for the character to do what they wanted it to do, l0l. So the faster character can just be normal speed, but the weaker character in the srrongest character's eyes is obviously slow as hell, l0l so we kind of see it from his eyes. |

@tin man: I like that, because you can't win by luck or mashing buttons over and over...you have to win by skill, which is how it should be in a DB game, because in the show skill plays such a huge part of the story it's self. It would eliminate blindly going into a beam struggle completely unprepared. I like the idea of powering up during the struggle too. Say you just Transformed into Super Saiyan and a beam struggle is started before you can reach Full Power, well in the struggle you could finally power up to full power, but it would taker longer than usual since you're focusing your Ki on your attack and not powering up. Also, if you're facing someone who has a combo Ultimate attack, most of it is purely punches and kicks, but at the end they have an ultimate Ki attack(Let's say Frieza's Planet Buster), if you don't want to block or counter the Meelee but the Ki attack that should be an option, but you should be able to set a certain blast as a counter blast. So if you wanted your counter blast to be different than your default Ultimate attack, that should be an option. Also, (Unlike Ultimate Tenkaichi) if you counter an Ultimate with an Ultimate if you win the beam struggle, your opponent should receive the same amount of damage you would've taken. @StrawHatCrew: I get what you're saying, that would work great in "Realistic Mode" because if you're truly superior to your opponent then you should be in every fashion, not just put higher health on you, make your character faster, stronger, more durable, generate Ki faster, power up faster...man I should be making these games lol. Edit: I would also like to add a little more to the whole custom combo idea with Ki blasts...when making custom attacks, you should also have the option of what color you want the Ki blasts to be. If you're combining two attacks with completely different colors, you should either combine the colors or make sure both colors are present within the attack. "realistic mode" wouldn't be a good idea. everyone would straight up pick the strongest character. no matter what you do, if it was unbalanced as the anime it would ALWAYS be one sided. it's like pressing F1 on a mugen game.(pressing F1 just kills player 2. its not even an ingame thing). as for graphics, why not have akira toriyama himself design the characters and have the developers make it an actual ingame model. The whole Realistic Mode wouldn't be for PVP, it would be out of that part of the game...it wouldn't be fair if it was. That whole Mode would be a screw around, have fun and feel like you're one bad SoB that's all it would be. I agree, there should be a complete engine overhaul. I was thinking about heroes and thought... Would anyone possibly think about a card game for Dragon Ball? Cards could be various techniques and forms, maybe alternate victory conditions like defeating the enemy, or gathering the Dragon balls. Table top or computer, either works. How if we're talking about a Magic The Gathering style of DBZ game, then I'm all for it. You could have a started deck either come with the game, or make it part of a preorder deal, but it would be a specific special deck you can only get through the preorder. |

I wouldn't do that, mostly because I have a distaste for pre order bonuses that effect gameplay. Maybe a card back or custom mat type thing. And yeah, though I do wonder, most games use monsters or creatures or something, but in this case it'd be 1v1 fighting. So this would be a fairly different game from most others. |
